Hello all,

Just wondering whether anyone can suggest areas "fairly close to Perth". Am not asking for GPS coords Very Happy Just localaties. I am off for a week or so over the easter break and can afford to spend the time driving to areas 8, 9, 10 hours away, but I am thinking more like "a weekend away" sort of distance.
Thanks

Gday xenon

There are a couple of places that are relatively close to Perth, but still 5+ hours drive away, if you want to go out along the Great Eastern Hwy then you have Southern Cross and Parker Range, if you go out on the Great Northern Hwy then you can go to Warriadar and Paynes Find, either area has a long history of gold being found and you still have the chance of getting a piece or two.

Unfortunately most of these places have been heavily worked but you never know your luck.

cheers

Gold nearby Perth Empty armadale

Post  jackhunter Fri May 20, 2011 4:49 pm

back in the 1980's i was living in the armadale hills, its now called richon, but on the southwest hwy almost behind where harvey norman is now but over the hwy from them was a gold shaft, then on bedfordale hill rd that is 500 metres along hwy half way up the hill was another two gold shafts and their was one on tredale road as well. they all got filled in during the 1990's. they had gold removed from them in the 1880's i think was date, bit fuzzy now but back when armadale was the stopping place on way to albany. also boddington near dwellingup will soon have the worlds largest open cut gold mine, its still in 2nd place for the title. dwellingup through to boddington has had gold found in the past century. so has gingin to bindoon and their is still gold shafts between toodyay and bolgart. now you would have to be lucky to find gold but they all very close to perth. i know armadale still has big quartz reefs in the richon hill a few kilometres south of that hill is wungong gorge with quartz in it
