All up 0.2 grams found in the same hole with the 2nd dig of the day. Thanks to Gully Hunter and Zaccaboy for a great day.
And for those that like it rough, head to Blackwood.

Nice clean little pieces GoldenChild. Look on the bright side, regardless of size they chose you to bring them to light, from their resting place.

Cheers kon61.

hey TheGoldenChild, it's small but still get money for it and it's tax free and it sounds like you had a good time... i'm thinking save up the small ones to over an ounce and melt them down to make one good size bit.. i'm not sure if i should or not... that might be the next post i think...
cheers

Hi goldenchild for sharing your finds with us I had done a lot of prospecting up at Blackwood many years ago, but haven't they now turned some of that area into a National park and no prospecting allowed. ? As I would love to get back up there.

Hi Wombat

we had a go in Nugget creek and Yankee creek. Anything to the West of Yankee creek is State Park and you are right, no prospecting allowed. That also goes for the Lerderberg River.
There's plenty of gold bearing ground outside State Park but unless you are a mountain goat, very steep, bushy and deep land and not really suited for detecting. Best spots are the creeks where hopefully any gold coming of these steep slopes ends up. Also be prepared to dig up tons of junk.

Blackwood being a verrrryyyyy rugged area is why some old timers in the 1850's had one look at the place and kept walking on to Ballarat. Some area have not been explored properly even now, still plenty of gold in the area if you, as Goldenchild said " A mountain goat"

What we saw wasn't detecting country ( except the creeks ) Johnny but Blackwood is a big area and I am sure there is better ground somewhere in there. A bit hard to see it all in one day and you would need time to find the good spots. I am sure other forum members have been there and done alright.
