the 4000 and the 2000
going to take the sd 2000 and the gpx 4000 for a run today, i'll see how i go picking up gold with the sd 2000, i'm going to try the big green 18" coil and try my 8" mono on it. it will be good to see if i can pick anything up with it. i'll run the 4000 for a start if i pick up a signal i'll run the sd 2000 over it. then i'll just run the sd for a bit to see how it go's. it's a bit windy out side but the sun is out.

Re: the 4000 and the 2000
I have used the original version of the 18" coil on the 2000 and it punches deep believe me.....It went to 18" (50cm) at Leonora.....my mate could'nt believe it!.....he got it on video.
The secret is to swing slow.......
I wrote an article on the episode for GEM & TREASURE MAG.March 1997....titled "Holier than Thou".
A lot of people underestimated that coil (which uses LITZ wire) because of it weight....I cut holes in mine to reduce the weight to 750gms.

didn't get to test
i didn't get to test it out today as my button and coil played up something bad today. it took about 2 mins just to get the detecor to turn on, then if something even scraped the coil it would go stupid.... but saying that i did find these....
will be sending them off to ML monday for sure to get fixed. will get the sd back out after i get mine back and retry and hope all go's well.

Re: the 4000 and the 2000
G'day Stoppsy, Are ML going to fix your GPX4000 start press button for free?...have you spoken to them and if so have they made a commitment to you....mine hasn't presented a problem as yet..but judging by the sheer number of 4000's that have had to go back...it it pretty obvious its a machine design fault and not operator negligence...doesnt matter if it is no longer under Warranty..it does not do the intended purpose..i.e. to turn on your detector.....ML must know it should have been a switch and not a button...as such has ML ever issued a recall to fix their design error?...it follows they should pay for cartage as well in my opinion....now let all the ML defenders jump on me from a great height.....

Re: the 4000 and the 2000
hi frog, i think about 4 to 5 inches that was about .1 and a .09 at about 2 to 3 inches. that's with the 8" mono. the deepest i have picked up was 10 inches for .6 grams

Re: the 4000 and the 2000
Stoppsy, I'm glad ML will fix for no futher cost than carriage....My point about recall V just fixing when it inevitably works no longer is this, why should I have to wait until I'm out in W.A. or whatever <and this happened to a mate with his 4000> and have the thing stop working...why not recall all and fix them before the inevitable problem....I might ring them and see if they will fix before their built in problem develops....I wonder if anyone else has had the 4000 fixed before it breaks....?...should have been a recall like other Companies who find a product can develop a problem so why not Minelab?
Great gold you keep finding Stoppsy you are an inspiration to us all mate....
