Does anyone use an SD 2000 for big nuggets?
Are there people out there using SD' 2000's primeraly for depth on larger objects, or is it too hard ie too much noise etc? Or is it just the modded 2000's that go deeper?

Modding is very controversial but to suggest that the only benefit to modding is a noisier detector is nonsense. However, that said, there are many modders with little knowledge or skill that do infact only make a noisier detector with no other noticeable improvements.
Any mods need to be very carefully tested in the field and unless you are highly skilled in the use of a detector then I wouldn't recommend you start modding. The best, most experienced prospectors do mod their machines one way or another and their nugget tally at the end of the day shows that modding does work if done properly when in capable hands.

Hi,
If a modified detector is noisier, it is most likely due to the gain having been increased.
Increase the gain on a 4500 and what happens?
Any gain mod should be operator adjustable to allow for shifting atmospheric conditions.
Cheers
Grey.
