Search Scan 650 RTR PI.
Question for Adrian,
You have or had one, it only had two knobs and used 9v batteries, did it work similar to a Fisher Impulse PI
Just stirring up old memories.

Re: Search Scan 650 RTR PI.
Yes Ivanll I did have a 650 for a short time. Purchased second hand.
It worked about as well as a Tesoro Sand Shark but without the extra controls.
Sounded a bit like a vlf with a nice tone. No read out or display just audio. A bit like the Impulse LCD display model although the impulse was a bit better on depth for small coins and rings.
The 650 could get a bit noisy over the salt.
The two controls were Threshold/On Off and Vol
I never did work out if the vol control was a p delay or not.
The battery compartment of the 650 was a moisture access point and on my machine the battery contacts were corroded . If I recall correctly (might be wrong)the battery cover plate was a press fit. It had a rubber seal but did not create a reliable seal.
Trying to repair the in situe battery contacts proved to be difficult because the control box was sealed shut with epoxy resign which resulted in considerable cursing on my part. I never did achieve a satisfactory repair and passed the detector on to a person who was willing to give it a go.
