Jupiter , Mars & Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks Empty Jupiter , Mars & Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks

Why is it that when comets "Approach between Jupiter & Mars" they undergo explosive brightness changes?... Like windscreen chips,  happens a lot. Very Happy

This little beastie "12P/Pons-Brooks" is huffing and puffing quite a bit lately and is out near Jupiter .

Maybe the solar wind concentrates/focuses  in that region of the solar system.
