Yank in WA, ***BEWARE*** Starting from Scratch
I would like to say G'Day to all my new mentors!
I know absolutely nothing about Prospecting, but from what I have seen on the Tellie.
My name is Ron Cruz. I am a US Army Retired Veteran. I served 24 years in the military, I have two Masters Degrees, and I am a complete idiot when it comes to my new way of life.
You see, I have never done any of this, but I have started to collect and purchase everything, only to find that I am making every mistake in the book, I am certain.
To start off, I purchased a detector a year and a bit of go, when I was coming to WA for a 90 Day Vacation. My wife is from Perth. We were coming to WA to visit family, but I had watch a TV show in the US, and thought, OMG!!!
'I have to do this! "Aussie Gold""
So we arrived here at the beginning of COVID and found ourselves stuck here. What a great place to be stuck, and apparently the safest place too.
Anyways, like a typical American, I jumped in feet first and found I did not know how to swim. I did what I thought was good research and purchased a Whites Spectra v3i. Only to find out, the company went bankrupt and now my gear is not only OLD but obsolete.
So, Bottom line here.............
I need an old timer/young expert/mentor to help me start out with my new passion. I am lost, but I really want to do this stuff. ALOT
Here's what I do know:
I need to get registered. I will do this very soon.
10 Commandments.
I am not doing this for the money, although I am not apposed to making money doing it.
DONOT go in someone's private lease w/o permission.
Crown Land seems to be a good place to start.
Finely.......... Gold is Yellow
I will start to read everything I can absorbed , starting with this section of the message board.
It's very nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the forum Ron
Shame you fell at a time of a pandemic, but things are what they are & we just have to do our best, in order to safely circumnavigate around it.
There is much information on this forum to learn from & more than one knowledgeable detectorist/prospector from WA or other states, capable of helping you out with any questions that you may have, in regards to the prospecting for gold.
Take care & best of luck to both of you out there.
Cheers Kon.

welcome Ron, hopefully you'll have beginners luck
once you get your WA miners right, udo and bill will guide you in the right direction.
And correct Ron for 99% of prospectors these days it's about hopefully covering your cost for a trip and the pure enjoyment of the Australian bush.
