Off Topic. Space X Rockets
Good to see that Space X test rockets are failing at launch. This mob are contaminating the low earth orbital space around the earth with vast numbers of Sky Net type satelites. These are interfering greatly with astronomy photography and other astronomy projects .
So lets see a few more of these rockets fail at lift off. .......And they reckon that they will be sending rich tourists into earth orbit. Better lift their game aye!

Re: Off Topic. Space X Rockets
Rich kid with too much money, l like the idea of electric transport, but Mars doesn't interest me.
That sort of money could be put to better use, but its his loot.
We should be mining our own resorses like Lithium and produce mega batteries instead of multi national companies milking us out.
I once fronted a high profile labor politician and asked why we (the government) don't mine our own resorses and refine them to sell as a finished product.
His reply was " were not in the mining industry"
I said what about manufacturing?
He said, we already are into manufacturing.
And we were back then.

Re: Off Topic. Space X Rockets
I set off walking every morning around 6:15 a.m. and I am greeted by Venus, weather permitting.
This morning I got quite a surprise as I walked down my drive. There was suddenly a new planet just to the right of Venus and about the same brightness, almost a clone. It stopped me dead in my tracks as I pondered what this new celestial body was. When I stopped, the thing in the sky kept moving.
Yesterday morning I was surprised to see something flying past Venus as I set off on my walk. It wasn't as bright as this morning's satellite.
It was the brightness of the satellite this morning that really surprised me. It is rare to see any satellites due to the lights from Melbourne and suburbs. Elon must be placing his in a lower orbit than what has been the norm. I wonder if they will burn up if they start crashing into each other, or are they too low to do that if something goes wrong.
I might start wearing a safety helmet from now on.
Regards Axtyr.

Re: Off Topic. Space X Rockets
I just assumed it was Venus. Maybe it is a Chinese spy satellite that just hangs there. It isn't red like Mars would be and it is in the western sky. I might break out the spotting scope the next morning it is clear and check it out.

Re: Off Topic. Space X Rockets
I can usually see Saturn and some of it's moons with my spotting scope. The only way I can tell it is Saturn is because it is elliptical and it isn't as bright as this.
To see Uranus I have to use a mirror and place it on the bathroom floor, it appears to have a black hole in it. I can pick out Mars due to it's red colour.
This appears about N.W. at about 60 degrees.

Re: Off Topic. Space X Rockets
And the winner is Sydeniy.....
Sorry I got caught up in all the Olympic's excitement.
It is JUPITER, by the look of it. With the spotting scope I can easily see at least 3 of the moons and maybe a fourth but it is much fainter if it is.
