My Detectors and Gold Chain / Small Gold Jewellery
Getting bored with not going out much so decided to compare some of my better detectors on small gold (yellow and white) chain and earring studs through flagstone pavers 1.5 inches thick.
Detectors fitted with similar size coils. Some DD a couple of concentric.
Disc and All Met modes tested where applicable.
TDI Pro Oz.......No response on the gold chain, slight difficult to hear response on a white gold stud. No response on a yellow and white gold initial K pendant.
Safari. ..........No response on all items.
Whites SST... A very clipped, weak and intermittent iron tone on all items.
Nokta Red Racer.......Weak intermittent response jumping between full iron ID and max scale. Responds well when targets are on the surface
Sov XS..........No response.
Vallon VMH3CS......Weak but diggable signal on all items.
Tesoro Mojave....... No response.
Gold Bug Pro DP...... Good response and correct ID on all items.
SDC 2300...............Good response to all items
Guess I will be taking the 2300 and the GB DP to the beach in future.

Midas 500 (30+years old) & Infinium.
All items are between 9 & 18 k
Both detectors responded well to the items in the top row at between 4 to 7 inches.
The Midas responded well to the items in the bottom row at between 4 to 7 inches. The Infinium responded to the small stud earring, white gold diamond pendant and the K pendant

Adrian
Thanks for that...... now the real test is to see how each performs on the same targets in wet beach sand...... when they finally let you out of your backyard that is.

Re: My Detectors and Gold Chain / Small Gold Jewellery
I know how well the Infinium performs at the beach but the Midas is an unknown at the moment. This tecta responded to the top row items at between 5 and 12 inches depending which item. The tecta was on the low sensitivity setting, high was a bit chatty with the EMI.
The Midas is achieving close enough the same depth in ground (Neutral Fresh dry river sand) as in air tests I guess all I am driving at here is that the Old Midas is a very capable detector today even when compared to some modern ish VLFs.
