Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
For a weak virus it is killing people quite quickly and has the world health organisations in a panic.
The precautions that are being taken to stop the spread of this virus are hitherto unheard of.

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
Back to my rabbits in the paddock scenario Adrian.
When you have many many millions of people living in close proximity then it will take of like wild fire.
Take a look at the cruise ship berthed in japan, 3500 people confined in a little tin can, there dropping like flies now.
If someone in a one horse town gets it ,it could be contained

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
True, but then everybody in that one horse town will catch it coz they all talk to each other every day. n then the entire town will diiiiieeeeeee!!
Problem is that the world is not a one horse town and all countries are linked via ships, plane n trains and so a highly contagious disease will spread very quickly around the planet.
This will give a clue as to how a disease can spread rapidly.

Exactly ,the paddock being the planet ,it's getting choker block, shoulder to shoulder full of dudes.
If ya crook in a one horse town at least you could yell out of your window and tell any visitor to rack orf.
I think this is nature trying to balance the situation but we keep on developing vaccines then the little buggers say"ANY THING YOU CAN DO WE CAN DO BETTER"
And so it goes on until they beat us

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
If we did not develop vaccines then the little bugs would knock us of big time until our immune systems developed a defence against them and then there would not be as many of us left and the bugs would evolve to beat our new defence system so what is the difference.
By producing the vaccines we can prevent ourselves from all getting crook and reduce the number of sufferers and fatalities.
Imagine if we did not have a vaccine for polio, tetanus, diphtheria, small pox, measles, Mumps, typhoid, etc. These diseases are still with us but the number of infections is controlled very well by vaccines. Without vaccination many of our children might not have made it through primary school or even Day Care.
Our immune system attacks anything foreign that enters the body and when you realise that we are living in an ocean of germs, bacteria, viruses and these things are entering our bodies every second of every day then it can be seen that our immune system does a pretty good job of keeping us in good health, but every now and then a tough nut to crack comes along and gives us hell and defeats our immune system. We should be happy that there are people on this earth that can figure out how to beat these tough nut.

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
Not being heartless here but I think Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest comes into play.
What would our planet look like without any of these modern day cures, what would our population be? would we still exist?
But then again subconsciously and consciously we as a species are trying to survive as the fittest ,will we succeed is the big question and for what purpose[to pollute ourselves into oblivion?]
Stupidity and greed may be humanity's biggest downfall in the end anyway and the virus's can sit back have a beer and watch it all go to manure

I guess as larger species die out due to lack of food, global warming, climate change, then the smaller types will survive, they do not need as much food and can tolerate extremes in climate, radiation etc. Also they do not need oil, coal, gold, silver, lead, zinc, big houses and air conditioners, and tv's and laptops etc.
Yeah our days are numbered so make hay while the sun shines and make love to yer missus coz tomorrow may not arrive.

I never give all of this crap about climate change and global warming a second thought. Might write about it a bit but don't worry about it.
I take life as it comes. There is nothing that we can do to alter climate change but if we do all of the things that the global warming and climate change extremists want us to do then our lives will become very difficult indeed. We will have to sacrifice our standard of living, Our defences will be severely degraded and countries like china or North Korea, India will be able to take us out of the equation of life As for the effect on our Aborigines, well they will end up with no claim to Australia at all. China will own Australia and they do not give two hoots about Aborigines and know nothing of their history.

Yeah I tend to think the same as well ,wait and see , as its become apparent that many off the experts don't know either . I mean some experts predict that up too 60 % of the worlds population could get infected ! Yet others super bug carriers that unknowingly spread it around are now outa hospital ! Thou jezuz wept I feel for those poor cruise passengers being locked up in that big tin can too .Concerned yes ,but i'll try and refrain from doing what ol Jones'y used to do in DADS ARMY ,remember him , DONT PANIC - DONT PANIC .

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
The last thing we need is for the government to re-open our borders to China.
Ripley put it so succinctly in the movie Aliens when she said; "If just one of those xxxxers get down here then you can kiss all this goodbye."
But seriously, all this needs to be put into perspective. All that needed to be done in the first place was to shut down China for about 3 weeks and it may have all blown over by now. No spreading to other countries and minimal damage to tourism in other countries. Maybe that is being a little simplistic.
However, it originated in China and a few hundred thousand people have been infected with more than 1000 deaths. Given the close proximity of the population this is understandable and there are vast areas of the country that would be considered close to third world.
Now look at India, similar population density, a third world country and approximately 6000 people infected but NO deaths.
There is obviously something dramatically different. Maybe the virus is like me and doesn't like Indian food. I personally don't believe there is a coronavirus, it is just a purge of all the dissidents taking place. LOL.
Regards Axtyr.

As time goes by
Latest today was a 27 day incubation period, the hills sound good at the moment and remember more people died of flu post WW1 than in the war as the men came home around the world and we have a vaccine for that so perhaps time to go out and prospect. Don't forget the towel and yes no panicking

Beyond explanation I reckon, my son in law goes with an experimental virus that got out. Whatever the truth Italian towns going into lockdown now. Wonder when, how soon the first cases not known of pop up here. Not sure that opening our borders to let students in for economic reasons will look such a bright idea when the virus rears its head here.

There is nothing you can do about it Adrian, why get your jocks in a twist. Someone dies every few minutes from a heart attack!
Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
Although the truth should never be hidden, all governments around the world suppress it from their people, in order to avoid panic.
Should not the people of each nation have the right to be made aware (asap), in order to take some form of precautions on their own accord, especially that concerning a dangerous/deadly virus? As always, it is the dollar that is considered first over life.
It is said that in saying the truth sometimes hurts, but I say only to the one/s who get caught lying. The longer the facts are delayed from the people, the greater the conspiracies/lies/inaccuracy of information to cover it up will be & continue to blow out of proportion, but at what cost?
Cheers Kon.

I don't give a rats a..s about the corona virus or any other virus. So long as I have batteries for my tectas and a good eyepiece in my telescope and a card for my P900 then I am happy.
But what does p me off is people who get sick with contagious diseases and then walk around the shops or schools and day care ctrs giving it to everybody else.
These are the people that the TV adds say should take an anti col and "Soldier On" and then by being so called tough and soldiering on, the whole planet gets sick.

2018 - 2019, 61,200 people died from the flu.....That is like, bugger all on a global scale.
If the coronavirus is just another flu like disease not much worse than a common cold then why all the big fuss about it?...Big enough to
cause a hicup the Stock markets....Just a small glitch in the market that we had to have and not worth worrying about.......Could it be that this virus was manufactured by dipstick Virologists in a lab and it got away from them.

Not looking good at all Redfin. I know our governments doing what they can in preparation for what's to come, for our normal flue season is not far away, not alone mixed in with the coronavirus.
I can only hope a cure is close to being produced, before a pandemic breaks out, infecting many.

Re: Off Topic Coronavirus
The Flu.
High early-season vaccination rates and a relatively effective annual vaccine appeared to help suppress illnesses. In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.
So the Coronavirus has a ways to go yet....I think myself and my wife have already had it back in early January. We were off our feet for nearly 6 weeks.
When we recovered we went and updated our flu, pneumonia and Tetanus shots......Why? you may well ask.....Why not, I may well answer.
