Re: detector shutting down
Out of curiosity, do you have the coil conection done up tight. Pushing plug in then tightening up again. Just a thought.

detector shutting down
Travelergold's probably right. You've got to seat it properly then screw it in about 2mm, then push the plug further in about 1mm, then screw it in again. you'll have to do this 5 or 6 times until it won't tighten any more. You may also have cross threaded it, so keep undoing it ,and try again, until It screws on without sticking.

I just recently had mine returned for a similar issue, it was losing audio even though the screen was on. The only way to sort it was to remove the battery then restart. Apparently it was an interface communiation issue between the control panel and audio "system" and isn't something new. Haven't had a problem since getting it back.

Re: detector shutting down
Apart from the above GPZ 7000 issues mentioned, a mate of mine had to send his back for a screen pixel issue repair, of which the whole hand piece/screen was replaced. My own GPZ on the odd occasion, has frozen up whilst changing from one gold mode to the next, but not enough times to worry me, nor warrant sending it back to Minelab for repairs. Switching it off, then back on was all that was required to fix the problem.
Top of the line detector for gold prospecting yes, but far from being flawless in working characteristics.
Cheers Kon.
