Old metal detector from the 1960's found... (PICS)
We found this whilst cleaning the other day. Seems to be an early, commercially produced metal detector from 1967/1968.
This old dinosaur has some "modern" features on it too... like a coil cable concealed within the shaft and 'typical' shaft mounted tightening-clamp. Another detectorist just unearthed one of these in the United States this week so there's more than one of these out there! There's a socket for the headphone jack although it's out of view in the images.
This was no doubt a very "futuristic looking" detector in it's day.
Reminds me of the cover art on this vintage issue of AMAZING STORIES Magazine. (CLICK LINK)
Pretty retro looking!
Cheers,
Marco

Old Detector
Metrotech is weel known for its subsurface transmision detection water mains etc (google metrotch) and the logo on the coil bears a resemblence to a reverse image and styalised radioactivity sign..
I found an old geiger counter in '69 in the top of a wall cupboard of company house we were stationed in at Alise Springs ... didn't looktoo dissimilar.
Good luck with your research,
JK.

G'day nero_design;
Is it just an ordinary,early model,metal detector,or Geiger counter,or a combination of the two?.
Cheers kon61
