Combo Pinpointer & Trowel
Purchased a nifty gadget from the States which arrived yesterday.
It is a SS Trowel and Pinpointer combined.
Have given it a pretty good try out and have concluded that this gadget is good for parks, gardens and maybe even the beach or softish ground. (although not WP from what I can see). It appears to be well constructed although with just 4 welds holding the trowel to the pointer , this may possibly be a weak point.
The push button on/off switch will likely be a problem when dirt enters past the button.
The detector is a No Motion machine that runs a high volume threshold tone which is a bit annoying. The audio exits at the battery cap end through small perforations in the end of the cap. The cap is a press fit. A bit of tape over the perforations quieten things down a bit but at the same time desensitises the unit a tad..
Overall sensitivity is down a bit if you are used to a ML pinpointer but when your target touches the probe tip it sounds of a good strong signal tone making locating coins within a few inches of the surface a snap. Sensitivity is along the first inch of the probe tip. The unit is no good in heavy iron mineralised ground.
These are just a few initial impressions of this gadget.

Re: Combo Pinpointer & Trowel
I am finding this to be a useful little gadget and it definitely helps prevent scratching coins and jewellery that can occur when using a normal digger.
It would be better if the sensitivity was slightly higher.
