Not a bad idea Jen. Tell you what. If you shout me a pair of those, I'll go you halves in what I find. What do you reckon?

Don't laugh!
There was a pair of metal detecting thongs/sandals on the market several years ago. I tried a pair and they worked but could only locate coins at just below the surface of the sand. A set of hps with long lead plugged into them. A novelty item that sort of worked. I don't recall much about them but I think they were PI with the controls in the hps .( Quite an easy item to construct)Stability was fine but depth was limited by the very small coil diam. Purchased on Ebay and later disposed of. I should have kept them as conversation pieces.
Also do not recall whether one or both sandals contained a cct.
Here is another interesting gadget.
A digger with a detector in the blade tip.

Might give one a a try out.
The threshold is a bit noisy due to the metal blade I guess. fairly difficult to tune that out and still sound on coins and stuff maybe?

Pinpointing trowel
The metal blade should not be a problem if it is a 'motion' detector. Some of the early VLF detectors had metal nut and bolt to attach the coil, not being a problem as the metal did not move in relation to the coil. If I remember correctly Whites detectors were made that way.

Yes ss bolts don't seem to effect the coils much. I had a CS4Pi and a variety of early Whites tectas that were not bothered by SS bolts.
The vid shows it as being a tad noisy but I ordered one anyway. Be a few weeks before I see it I reckon

A bit exy at 89 dollars to get it here from the States but if it works well, then it may be a bargain.

Tecta trowel
Adrian, I shall be looking forward to hearing how it goes, as I lost my pinpointer out in the bush some time back.

Re: The dodo ad finding 200 cents
It may be a while before I receive it Reg.
It is coming from the States about mid Feb and at that time I will be having a doc digging around in my heart sorting out a problem and then after that is done I will be having my other knee replaced, But only if the heart doc sends a note to the Ortho surgeon stating that I won,t drop dead during the knee surg. I hafta laugh Cause I would likely go nuts otherwise.
The digger looks ok but if you have watched the not so good video then you will have heard the threshold tone is quite loud. The unit does not sound like a Motion detector, so I figure there is room for improvement. Even so somebody has had a crack at making a combo detector/ digger trowel. The idea is good and it is surprising that it has not been done before.
It is fairly new I guess because I have not found any reviews yet.

Just checked. The digger is already in transit, so I am guessing it should be in my hot little hands about 10 days from today.

The metal cutting edge ought not be an issue on the off chance that it is a 'movement' identifier. A portion of the early VLF identifiers had metal nut and screw to connect the loop, not being an issue as the metal did not move in connection to the curl. In the event that I recollect accurately Whites identifiers were made that way.
