Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
I just back from buying diesel to put into my Perjero and the cost of fuel right now has skyrocketed up to $1.55.9c per Lt for diesel and petrol is not far behind. Have we just gone into World War 3 and someone forgot to tell us. This price is in Maryborough and looking on Petrol Spy web site, www.petrolspy.com.au/map/ it looks like it is happening all over Vic. I'm planning to go over to the West in about 8 weeks. But if the fuel prices keep going up I think I may forget about it for this year. "NOT HAPPY JANE"

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Wombat, where we are in Adelaide diesel has been $1.58 a liter for few weeks and unleaded nearly same price. This is what happens when port stanvac is no more and fuel has to be imported. (And australian supply at all time low) And OTR (on the run) had been taking over and building everywhere and now seems to have a very large monopoly. I refuse to suport them. Travel will cost more for us to leaving in few days too.

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
The new gold, liquid gold.
I suppose is not as dear as 4 1/2 years ago at $2.00 plus. Highest we payed was $2.50 lt in wa. As long as it does not keep going up.

I think the petrol companies feel the chilly winds of change in the form of electric cars coming and are hitting us hard while they still can.

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
With fuel prices you just have to grin and bear it . Went to my car parked in street ,this morning , to find it had got a flat... My tyres are 90 % a self tapping screw with a hex head was the problem . I changed the tyre and had it repaired . $45 to fix or $40 for cash . Last time I had one fixed it cost me $25 . Yes, I do live in Sydney ....

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Come to Canberra. Yesterday I paid 1.69 per ltr for super unleaded and I have no recollection of when it was last below 1.65
91 octane is cheaper but if I use that crap the old corolla goes 85 km less and likley produces more polution per tank than with 98 octane. 95 oct returns approx 55 km less

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
I agree with you. The better the fuel, higher octane rating , the less you use . It is all abut buying power , BTU's . You have to buy more cheaper fuel to equal less more expensive fuel .

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Agree Bill, I thought the same and finds are getting smaller / less frequent whilst cost to get out there and have some fun are going the other way
I’ve been using this app for some time now and it helps locate lower priced petrol stations, not sure that it will make much of a difference in a local town as options are limited in comparison to larger metro area however still worth downloading in my opinion and checking especially when prices are at a high as the app has a feature where it charts the price cycle and you can see when it is about to come down (or back up) again.

fuel
Hi Wombat,I just got back from the west and the dearest i paid for was $2 dollars a litre at Nullaboor road house, lucky it was a top up . All the other servos were reasonably priced, any where between 1.65 and 1.80.
Adelaide fuel prices were around $1.43.

leo diesel price
The BP standalone truckstop in Leo is usually 10 cents a litre cheaper than the two servos. Last street on the left heading North

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Had to pay 1.75/ltr for 95 octane Canberra yesterday. Shell is dearer at almost a dollar eighty for 98 at some servos

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Listening to a bio chemist/engineer on the ABC radio the other day & she said that Australia was the last country where diesel was still going strongly in sales & she thought it would be dead/unavailable in the near future (not sure how long that is).
So the fuel companies will probably just keep pushing the diesel price until it becomes unviable.
Was thinking about a 200 series twin turbo V8 cruiser but might wait now until they bring out a battery version. You'd need a lot of Duracell bunnies to power one of them .

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Diesel stinks and should be banned if you are environmentally aware and concerned for our health.

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
Wombat, I wouldn't be put off by the fuel prices. Look at the total cost of your trip then work out how much the extra fuel cost will add to your trip, bugger all. We don't even bother about taking jerry cans for fuel. Top up in Ceduna, then at Eucla then you only have to top up once more before cheaper prices at Norseman. The extra cost of the jerry cans would be far more than what you will save in fuel.

Re: Off Topic. Increase Fuel Prices
I won't be going over this year. Not because of the fuel cost or anything. But because there is to much to do in regards to organising rallies, putting in submissions because of the VEAC Central West Forest Investigation and the Dja Dja Wurrung Draft report. All this will be coming to a head in the next month or two. So I hope to get over to the West next year.
