You are looking at around 7,000km round trip. - from melbourne.
Fuel can be anywhere from $1.55 to $2.30 a litre depending where you purchase it. (average fuel at just under $2.00 per lt)
To save yourself some money try and carry some jerry cans of fuel across the nullabour as the fuel se very expensive. We always do the trip from kalgoolie to ceduna with out purchasing fuel. In ceduna check prices at the various servo's as they can vary by up to 15 cents a litre.
You can work out rough cost depending on fuel usage. hope this helps

G'day Everhopeful,
Driving a Toyota Hilux 3lt turbo Dielsel Auto towing a 18 and half foot full caravan..
Well we allow $1000 just to go from marybrough vic, to kalgoorlie..
The most it has cost us to get to kalgoorlie, was $850.. From memory..
Then from kalgoorlie to laverton you have about another 359 kms to travel..
Hope this helps.

If you tow a van at 90Km/Hour expect to use 50% more fuel than no van at 110 Km/Hour But expect it to be 100% plus Towing at 110 Km/Hour. Watch out for head winds they throw a spanner into the works.

You are right there geof_junk that's why we try not to go over 90kmh other wise we just watch the fuel needle drop down very quickly.

Our trip this year cost nearly $2000 Toyota 100 series diesel towing a 2000 kg Van. Fuel at Yamba was 1.95 per Litre, Nullarbor Roadhouse being the dearest at 2.10. We carried 1 x 20 Litre jerry as backup. Ceduna $1.559, Penong $1.559, Mundrabilla $1.94, Norseman $1.639, Kalgoorlie $1.589, Leonora $1.649. Laverton was dearer at $1.899. Hope this helps everone.

I've got the Gold Detecting BUG big time and so has Kerry. Between Bikes at the moment, sold the GSA a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to talking about Gold next time we meet. Off to Seekers weekend at Moliagul 31st October, interested?
