sdc 2300 skid plate .

Can someone tell me how to change the skid plate, can`t get the old one off. Thanks

After seeing that the 2300 skid plates can break on removal or end up loose fitting when put back on as they can become damaged from being forced off I came up with idea of using a strip of plastic, what you do is cut a strip of plastic from an ice cream bucket about 25-30 cm long and about 4-5 cm wide, and then cut a rounded chamfer on each end of the plastic strip.

What you can do then is starting at one end of the skid plate near the base of the shaft and moving in a clockwise direction start to carefully push the plastic strip (starting with the chamfered edge facing down) between the skid plate and coil body, you might have to gently lift the corner of the skid plate with a screwdriver or something to get the strip started, and then progressively push the plastic strip in between the two as you follow the edge around the coil, once you have gotten half way round or so you will find the skid plate will have loosened its grip sufficiently and will come off easily, just take your time and be patient and it will come off undamaged, once cleaned its snaps back on easily and will stay tightly in place.

Its very important to clean between the plate and the coil as a build up of sand and dust can cause false signals and sporadic noises, and perhaps a small loss in sensitivity as well.

By the way been to Heathcote 6 times no gold but lots of shot gun pellets, next time!

Just an idea, you could put it in warm water. A lot of plastics expand when warm .

it is water proof to ten feet just give it a dam good hosing down.

no dust or sand job done .
