solid skid plate for the 19" Empty solid skid plate for the 19"

I fitted a solid skid plate to the 19 yesterday and took it out for a spin today. The solid plate makes the coil about 500% easier to use.
And as an aside, I got this piece today with the 19.  It goes a whopping 0.06g
cheers

Hi phoenix, I can't tell from your photo, but is the very front edge bent up to fill the gap under the centre loop. Kon61 did his almost the same as yours but left the lexan sheet longer up the front and bent it up to fill the gap  .... works great. Errr... the skid plate that is.
Not sure if I should congratulate you on that nugget because I'm not sure the 19" coil should be picking those things up. Sad  If we're going to be picking up bird shot with a coil this big.... there is no reason to go on living. Crying or Very sad

Ps. what glue was used? And what thickness was the sheet?

Hey Slim
The lexan is 1mm and I glue the lexan on with clear silastic. This is the first coil that I haven`t stuck the plate directly onto the coil. Using the silastic it is no big drama to remove it whenever you want. And no mate, I didn`t turn up the ends. I considered trying that, but for a first attempt, I just left it flat and it works ok.
I think the only reason I got the 0.06 is because the sweet spot of the coil happened to go over it. If the coil had been 6" further forward or back I don`t think I would have got it. The funny thing is I`m not out there looking for point oners
Thanks flyspecs
cheers

Nice one Dave,

Glad to see the new skid plate you have fitted works well for you and thanks for sharing. Very Happy Yes it's still very sensitive for a large coil.

Cheers.

Mike.

Yeh somebody said on the forum just the other day that ML was going to make a solid skid plate, but even if they do, I`ll stick with the lexan.
It lasts forever Very Happy  (well not quite, but it lasts a hell of a long time)
