Re: Digitech Pinpointer
Garrett Pro Pointer is an excellent all rounder for the beach and gold fields. It is way over priced in Australia.
The Pistol Pro is a PI and has several adjustments and has the best depth capability of all pointers that I have ever used. It is an odd cumbersome size and shape and is not happy in iron mineralisation but is fantastic on salt-water beaches.
It has sensitivity control which is handy for this pointer because great depth on tiny targets can be a problem at times.
I will list some detection distances for my particular the digitek shortly.
17:15
Digitech Pinpointer air test distances.
Aussie Coins.
5 cents +3.5 cm.
10 cents = 4.5 cm.
20 cents = 6 cm.
50 cents = 7 cm.
1 dollar = 5.5 cm
2 dollar = 5 cm
1.0g bitagold = 1.5 cm
1.5g bitagold = 1.5 cm.
0.2g bitagold = 0.5 cm
1.5 kg slab of iron stone = 2 cm
2kg bagablacksand(magnetic) = 1.5 cm
The pinpointer looks well made and feels reasonable tough. But:
It signals a target by a flashing red LED and a vibrator that sort of buzzes. The vibrator is feeble and the buzzing is not easy to hear. The LED flasher is ok.
Response is slow and the result is that you have to be very careful when trying to find a target. If the probe is moved too rapidly it will miss some targets. You must watch the LED lights because the LED flashes before the vibrator actuates....Sometimes.
The unit is said to be waterproof but to what depth is a mystery. Also the control panel looks as though it may not be secured very well. I can see bubbles in the cement holding the panel in place.
The test result distances are not so bad but the slow and feeble response turns me off this pinpointer

digitek pinpointer
I use a minelab pro find 25 here in tasmania and have found no fault with its performance so far.
its lightweight, sounds out loudly on detection and has an inbuilt light for use in dark area's.
cost was $185,one minor point its not waterproof but i can live with that.
Make sure its a GENUINE minelab not a chinese copy....regards mark

Re: Digitech Pinpointer
I have changed my mind somewhat re this pinpointer.
Although the buzzer is feeble; If you Keep a close watch on the LEDs it is OK for the price.
