A very good day out.
Good morning everyone.
I dared venture out yesterday given the forecast and it ended up being a reasonable day with very minimal drizzle. Early afternoon the sun came out and I had to take my jumper off and as soon as I did that it clouded over and got colder.
Anyway, I got off to a very good start picking up my first piece for the day being my first nugget over 1 gram for the year. There was only one other piece found before lunch but after lunch they just kept coming for a total of 9 for the day. At one spot I got a fantastic signal which was obviously on the surface and I looked down to see a .22 slug. I picked it up and waved the coil over the area again and there was a small piece right next to it on the surface as well. So there you go. None of the pieces were very deep and I think the 1 gram nugget must have been sitting side on as the signal was obvious but not very loud given it’s size. I had dug down about 8 inches before realising the piece was in the side of the hole and only about 3 inches deep.
The pieces weighed in at: 1.48 gram, 0.24 gram, 0.38 gram, 0.17 gram, 0.12 gram, 0.10 gram, 0.09 gram, 0.24 gram and 0.17 gram.
3 grams for the day and my best day out for a long time.
Regards Axtyr.
