Good afternoon all and Gold Reefer in particular,

That large specimen with the quartz is a thing of real beauty. Of course, you realize I was meant to find that but I will forgive you if you let me have the little bits at the top, please?

I guess you won't give us the coordinates but perhaps within a hundred ks?

Yours tropically, Harry

hey we are using a 4500 with 18" nugget finder and 11" comander dd coils. we put the nugget in acid already and when we took it out and cleaned it a little it started falling to bits so not to sure what to do now. and just to let yous all know we have only been prospecting for about 8 months now and have found little bits and pieces here and there then we hit this patch so it goes to show that its still out there you just have to put some time into it. we only get to go out 2-3 times a month and only for a day on the weekends and this is what we have found.

Hi Gr,nice pieces, you say the nugget is falling apart after the acid bath.Did you wash the nugget in clean water after then neutralise the acid by soaking in a strong bi carb soda for a couple of hours as the acid penetrates quite deeply into the quartz matrix and continues to eat away at it.if it was in acid for only a short time ie 1-2 days should be okaybut i have found much longer and the quartz starts to turn chalky and over time continues to to turn crumbly.Hope it is Ok as i love species but my mate throws everything in the pot(blastard) Laughing
