Do not often see Jupiter against a brightly sun lit cloud.

Have you ever noticed that the light within the circle of a rainbow is brighter than the light outside the rainbow.

Large Sunspot now.
It is approx 32,000 miles x 39,000 miles.  Approx 51,500 km x 63,000 km.
You could fit a few Earths in there aye!
 
    Also Venus will be super bright tonight.
Check it out around zero dark hundred hours. towards the west.

Now there is a true "Burning Ring Of Fire" on the sun.

Tried to get a pic of Venus last night but ended up with a sparkly little rainbow...Think I need another camera.
  Venus is just a crescent at the moment because it is almost directly between the Earth and The sun. It is fairly close to us so even though it is a thin crescent it is still very bright.

OK so it seems that the sparkly rainbow effect is normal for light shining through a thin crescent of the Venus atmosphere .and has nothing to do with my camera.

Well Harry & Meghan are back and on time (Late August). ....Only this time Meghan seems to have acquired a younger Harry. Although I might add that the younger Harry might be a cross dresser.   "Is immature male" (top left)

    Not sure how they always find my back yard in late August to early September.
Their conversation might go a bit like this as they hook int a barley or wheat crop crop out in the bush.

Colours are about right although I know some comp screens can display differently.

I've seen them. A rainbow lorikeet? maybe. Can't seem to find my bird book, maybe in the caravan will look tomorrow.

Maybe red Rumped Parrot, although no red visible in the pic.
We get Rainbow lorikeet in the back yard fairly regularly

The closest I can get in my book is a male Red-Rumped Parrot. Googled him and looks pretty close and in your area.

We really feel priviliged here in having so many different birds coming into our back yard.
Just yesterday alone over a time of around 3/4 hour we had:
Approx 8 curruwongs (in one hit )
10 Corellas,
4 king parrots,
7 sulfur crested Cockies,
about 10 Pink Galahs,
4 crimson Rosella's,
2 eastern Rosella's
2 Red Rumped Parrots
4 Magpies.
A whole bunch of Crested Pigeon.
2 Butcher Birds.
These birds are almost daily regulars
A while back we also scored a couple of Gang Gang cockatoo's and a couple of Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo's
Wattlebirds put in an appearance when the Banksia is in bloom.

That's handy to know , do any of you people down south have problems with these Indian Mayner birds ( another introduced pest ) bad up here in Nthr'n NSW , see flocks quite often up to 30 - 100 ?! bloody territorial / aggressive on the native species , whey have a local trapping campaign on them now .

It has proven to be difficult to eradicate these pests here in Canberra. And just when you think you have made dent in the numbers the little  buggers come back.

Had the usual compliment of birds in the back yard this morning and these three were waiting for a hand out, The magpie (on the right) was singing his head off and my wife was doing magpie imitations singing back at him which just made him sing louder and louder.
This bird managed to find his way into the kitchen yesterday and did an airborne lap much to the consternation of  my wife,but managed to find  his way back outside
