Garmin Gtrex H
I've got one of the cheap GPS units and just learning to use it.If I have a location of lat and long say a gold mine how do I find it.I can mark a waypoint and see the location but is there a way to see this information when moving. Can co-ordinates be entered as a waypoint. Thanks for any help here.

Re: Garmin Gtrex H
G'day Kingfish, I'm not familiar with that particular model, but yes you can put in co-ords and make a waypoint from that.
Once the waypoint is set into your unit, do you have an option of 'navigate to' if you do this will guide you in the direction of the waypoint (as the crow flies) usually when navigating to a waypoint you change screens to the compass screen and an arrow will point you to your heading, note that most compass in gps will only be accurate while moving.
Hope that helps. Cheers

Re: Garmin Gtrex H
hi steve
i don't have that model, but normaly you hit the the mark button once
then the coords of where you are come up,
you can the change them one by one until you have entered the coords
you want then hit mark or enter then hit goto.
this is how i do it with mine, but yours may be differant.
worth a try though
cheers

I was just having a quick read about this unit, when you have a waypoint and want to either re-name or change the symbool of the waypoint I would assume that you can edit co-ords while editing this info. It doesn't really touch on that in the manual but that is how I used to do it on a similar model that I used to use.

Garmin Etrex unit ?????
You can enter the GPS coordinates in two sections , one in " mark " page scroll down arrow and change the GPS points manually where they are displayed below the man holding the flag pole. The second in " waypoints ' page same as a file and use the rest of the features for tracking.
I gather you mean the Garmin Etrex unit ?????
PS some interesting sites to aid finding GPS coordinates

If one has a interesting GPS website they think is worth mention please list it for all of us to see ?????
cheers
