Thanks goldwright sorry i didnt reply was gonna wait till i throw a few more pics up......
Got it weighed and inspected last week, they said it was 900kg ,near fell over backwards with that, thats with no racks or roof top tent etc,i was hoping for @ 600 odd,put some pics up in a cuppla days, just trying to do final bits and pieces amongst the rain again
Gross is 2 ton on it and if it had a breakaway system he said it would pass as gross 3 ton, after racks -tent etc go on if the weight of it was correct that still leaves us about 950 carrying capacity, gonna get the weight rechecked when finished then straight up the pilbara for a month......

Re: Prospecting Trailer Build
still a few bits to do on it,at the moment its prop the top up by hand, need to speak to a strut guy and order the right ones to help lift it,tent solar panel and frame must be 150kg,so i'll get some excersise every time quad goes in or out,its a heavy setup, loaded we must be up around 1600-1700kg,weigh it when i have more time.
camped up at menzies tonight, got out to check everything and one wheel bearing is to tight, hub was hot so fix that in the morning,my old landcruisers not happy,if she could talk i think it would be along the lines of WTF have you tied to my a#s?
had four watertanks under it but pulled the rear one last night, overkill i think and a bit vunerable at the rear......

Great project GC and co, you must be very happy with your months of work results.
Maybe you already have this in mind, travel with water tanks empty (with a few litres for emergency) and fill them at the last town before hitting the bush tracks?
Good luck with your travels.

Re: Prospecting Trailer Build
Thanks jen dave nightjar, nearly 1000klms and it hasnt fallen apart yet,put an extra leaf in the springs and its still to soft with coils and gas shocks on it,instead of fart a%#ing about with my hair brain scheme of long landcruiser springs etc i should of just bought maybe an independent system ready to roll, stiffer coils or even those heavy duty airbags ill look into when i get back,oh and my plastic watertank fittings coped a hiding on them dirt bits across from wiluna to meeka.
Filling all the tanks and jerrys in a cuppla days before going bush, might be interesting
Nightjar i hear what ya saying, got 3 tanks,82-60 odd and 50,like to run one of them while traveling with say 40-50 in it as we pull up anywhere most the time, shower on the road would be a nice option.
It tows ok just floating a bit to much for my likings, few bits to sort out but it is nice to pull up and flip that tent open, used to throwing the swag on the ground while on the road.

Re: Prospecting Trailer Build
Hi there GC,
Did not even realise that this thread was up until today which I guess makes the theory that I am a little slow seem like an understatement.
Glad to see your getting along OK. Tralier looks good.
Suspension issues will no doubt sort themselves out once your able to establish final weight and balance both loaded and unloaded. How far off the stops do you reckon it is parked with everthing on at the moment?
Hope the weather is being kind to you, your having fun and .

hey bernie, didnt get around to fitting bump stops yet,was in the plans but,got about 100mm between guard and tyre at the momement but it travels a bit,190ltrs of water and 6 jerrys to fill this morn wont leave alot of clearance,if worse comes to worse i'll put jerrys in the back of the car, take it real easy where we are off to today.......
Weather up pilbara is awsome, much better then down sth mate
