Can anyone help? my new sdc 2300 issue Empty Can anyone help? my new sdc 2300 issue

Hey all, i got my new minelab sdc 2300 over my christmas break (still paying it off) but i've just had this issue with constant threshold interference.
Ive uploaded a video onto youtube to try and explain the problem better but i'll describe it here also.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-iZnJPV5Y4
Whenever im running the detector i've never had it above 2 sensitivity and run it on the 3rd threshold lvl which is just hearable(i usually use the headphones but for the video i ran off the speaker). It occasionally runes smooth with no background noise or little like it should, but 90% of the time it's doing what it does in the video. the threshold constantly goes off upto 5 bars on the threshold even though theirs nothing their nor any item to interfere. I always noise cancel before i start and ive tried doing that on max sensitivity and then lowering afterwards like Nenad@ phase technical recommends to do. the problem will always start back up again quite quickly and you can rarely balance it out. have tried it on bare patches of ground we know theirs absolutely nothing there and it just keeps doing the same thing.
* i know dad is wearing steal caps in the video but that isnt the problem, it always does it regardless and wont set off on the shoes unless alot closer as we tested several times, i don't wear steel caps or any jewelry when prospecting*

any help is greatly appreciated,

Luke

I have just gotten a reply from Nenad and he thinks it could be my phone, i have ran it without my phone on me before and it has still done it, but back to testing for me Smile. really hoping that's all the issue is!

Thats not your phone. Pack it up and send it back,  unless of course you are operating it immediately adjacent to a Justin Bieber concert. That could change things.

Hi Luke, not sure what is causing that but I experienced a lot of noise when I had my Minelab pinpointer strapped on my harness, at the back, but more on the right hand side.  Once I left pinpointer in car, no more noise.

cheers

Hi Luke

I just watched the first part of your vid
My goodness that doesn't seem normal to me, I have a 2300 and used
2 others, none of them did that!
If there is nothing interfering with it,like mobile phone, power lines, or Telstra in ground line
Even a gas line has power running along it.
Then all I can think of find someone close to you that has one and get thier opinion
Or send it back to minelab

thanks for the replies, i just got back down the bush after work to test it without my phone on me with the slightest of improvements. running it on 2 sensitivity would drive you insane after a few mintues, so running it on 1 and its still like a constant threshold movement between 1-2 lights. It doesn't always light up the threshold LED but you can hear that constant rhythm in the threshold. where we live out bush theirs no underground cables anywhere near, nor gas or anything like that so no possible EMI. I'll contact minelab VIA email to start off with and send them the video link and see if they can assist. I'll keep everyone posted with updates!

Good luck
Hope you get it sorted.

As for the 1st light, that's how I like to run mine, with the second light just blinking

Mate have you tried auto tune?
Mine has never had a real stable threshold but the auto tune fixes it when it gets bad.

Noticed in the video when you ground balance you are doing so very slow and at distance from the ground.
Have you tried a short (100-150mm) short sharp up/down when ground balancing instead?

yeah that was dad doing it(he hasn't really used one much, was just holding for the video), i normally go alot quicker and low to the ground without touching usually only upto around 100mm like recommended.
