Gpz7000 not female friendly :(
I went out detecting with my other half this morning, was so excited because
I was going to try our new Gpz7000, but got really disapointed because, when you are
Only 5foot nothing , even when adjusted the arm rest was sitting on my biceps lol,
And OMG. It was heavy did 5-10min called other half over and said he can keep his
Gpz7000 for himself. I think I will stay with my Gpx4500, for the time being.
So all up the Gpz7000 is only for the Macho mens hahahaha, not Female friendly.

Can you modify hte set-up, the arm-cuff, etc in some way? You can tie a stick towards the coil end of the shaft and use two hands (you don't need to purchase any "swing arm" type accessories ), helps with weight.

Don't write it off !
My partner is only 4 foot 11 and very slim, and was able to swing it for 2 hours today.
Put the J struts in the harness, adjust it as small as it will go, shorten the detector shaft, and adjust the bungy to take the weight.
Arm cuff fully forward ( also helps if you put a GPX neoprene cuff on it ) and you will be surprised. Play around with the setup and you will get it reasonably comfortable.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi BJgold
They are heavy hey?
I am the same, I use it for about ten minutes intervals
Mike has it the rest of the time.
Maybe that's the trick.. Setting up the harness and bungy to suit our own body shape

Yeah Jen, I did think it is very heavy, I did have Dave 's harness on, but I think I have to play around with it for awhile, next time we are going out , but I can go around with the Gpx 4500 for many hours wothout getting tired in my arm, I am pretty fit, so that's not the case (being unfit). I think Dave is pretty happy that I wont take the detector away from him hahaha .

Re: Gpz7000 not female friendly :(
Not female friendly! The damn thing isn't even user friendly.
The pro swing that comes as an accessory is total crapola. Good if you have a decent gut to hold the thing in place but absolutely useless if you are a slim jim like me. Every time I stand up after digging a target I find the waist section of the pro swing has wrapped itself around my chest. What a job afterwards to pull my undies and shorts back up, my T shirt back down then readjust the pro swing again. And then all over again on the next target. By the end of the day I almost end up wishing for no more targets! After 3 or 4 months out in the field it gets even worse! One would think that at least one field tester of average size would have noticed this but no. Model after model this BS continues. At the very least there should have been two sizes available to choose from. I hope ML are reading this and paying attention.
Also the zed is way too heavy for me to swing all day or use as a patch hunter. What were they thinking?

Re: Gpz7000 not female friendly :(
hi bjgold
the previous posters are on to it, An extra arm rest and stem which clips onto the "speed stick" stem (after the ball is removed) will allow both arms to take the weight of the coil . I have set my wifes and my GPXs up like this , and we can swing big coils all day. Agreed the harness and bungee need to be adjusted right . We use hipsticks also.
cheers
jim

Nebuchadnezzar You make me laugh you are right it's mot a machine for patch hunting but otherwise it's a pretty good machine, we have found a bit, but still earlie days
Jim I have no problems with the Gpx can walk around the whole day without problems I don't use a hip stick or a Swingarm nah the Gpx is fantastic. Yes the Gpz need the swinarm on so you can swing it for any length of time .

Being of the greyhound variety myself Nebuchadnezzar, I suffer the same fate with the pro-harness. You've got me thinking - next time out I'm going to try 4 elastic straps tied between the lower section of the harness and my trouser belt. If I come home with a squeaky voice, I'll then extend the suckers to connect between the harness and my boots next trip out - hey presto - Cal's Calipers. Any takers for a mere $49.95
PS Thanks for the advice a couple of days ago - I was quite worked up.

I'll take a set of the trouser belt kind, the Calipers sound like they could be a tripping hazard. Do you have them in green to match my shorts? The Borat look and the pro harness should be enough to scare off anyone detecting a bit too close to me lol.

Should be an interesting season using the zed on all my old patches. I wonder if it would pay off as well as the 5k over new ground had last season. Time will tell, but just in case it doesn't I've hung on to my precious 5ks.

Smart move, when the gpz7000 makes you feel, that you can no longer detect. Pullout the gpx5000Nebuchadnezzar wrote:Jen58 wrote:They were thinking that everyone wanted a machine that would punch Down deeper.Nebuchadnezzar wrote:What were they thinking?

Now here's a question
What does everyone that has the gpz7000 think, when they go back to using their other machines?
Well for those that were able to keep their old machines.

G'day Nebuchadnezzar,
Yes we too hung onto our 4500 & 5000s as well, as the dealers weren't taking trade ins. Like you it will be interesting to see how the GPZ goes over some of our old patches. So far here in Vic we have gone to several of our old patches and we have managed to find several nugs, but not all of our old spots have produced. I think if the ground is not that deep then I feel the previous machines have done a pretty good job at cleaning them up IMHO.
Cheers.
Mike.

Yeah put the harness on with the plastic bib brace thingy mike, run the bungy to bottom shaft(black plastic one) with the velcro hook thing down there lower, the bungy ran as a single line reaches the bib brace quite well.
We had a fair day yesty, cross checked a few fainter nuggets against the 45,gpz a bit brighter definetly but not a huge difference,im parking the gpz for a few days,go do some prospecting in comfort plus my 45's giving me filthy looks everytime i walk in the spare bedroom
