Re: Is the Gpz7000 mac compatible?
$10700 GPZed
$1500 20" coil
$1200 Windows computer
Come on, while I'm writing them down, is there anything else?
What's that? Oh yeah
$1000 11" coil.
Is that it?
How about the display screen deviator pipe, so the bungee cord doesn't keep twisting the detector around?
About $500 I'd say.
Hey! If Bruce can pluck figures out of the sky, well so can I.
Hmmm, Custom camo paint job, $1600. Anymore?
Sorry, it appears I'm whinging.

Should not be a problem.
My daughter has a mac and has a partition with Windows on it, running through Boot camp.

Is that the cost of your daily executive lunch in the "Leafy" South east suburbs of Melbourne, Redfin?

Mrs Redfins birthday, we go to a seafood joint near Tooradin airport.
You order the size crayfish you want a week before and they fly it in from King island.
So if you go to that extreme might as well have all the lashings.
be nice to do it more often but happy with the seniors parma down the local as well.

Re: Is the Gpz7000 mac compatible?
My understanding is that you can get an emulator software for the mac that allows you to run it.
I read that CTX users with Macs have been able to run the Xchange software. A quick search of the CTX users may help this question.

Re: Is the Gpz7000 mac compatible?
Hi just got an email back from Minelab
The Gpz7000 can not be used on the Mac computer
Only on Windows there is no software etc. to get so you can
Transfer it over to a Mac. (Not happy) I have sent another
Email to the people there invented the software Xchange2 to see if they can help
Awaiting reply. Cheers

That's a real bugger!!
You would think their software would cover all operating systems.
Be interesting to hear what you find out, for those out there that also use the Mac computer.

Re: Is the Gpz7000 mac compatible?
Sorry Redfin..
There has been a lot of posting, and yes it got past me.
So all you need to do is have a partition, ( which is part of the harddrive )install windows on it.
When you boot your machine up. You will have an option of which operating system to boot up with.
That's right? Right!
Using boot camp of course.
Thankyou Redfin
GOLDCHASER & BJ ...... REDFIN put it up again!!!!

Cheers Redfin no detector yet to try this out and minelab told BJ they couldn't hook it up to a mac so they might not know about this other option?
Thought maybe minelab might have another option around it,didly squat to me im a paper map bloke but it might be worth a look down the track in reguards to keeping track of where ya been walking.....

This will work just as good as on a windows machine, as on a mac.....because there is almost nil difference between the 2 machines.
People who know how, can load the mac os on a windows machine, I have done it myself and works just as well.

Cheers Inhere,F it,won't be plugged into nothing except my arm for a while, just couldn't be bothered, use the onboard gps for marking where youve found gold but that'll be it for me i think, you might want to transfer them onto your handheld or at least write them down then delete them to if it had to go to minelab for a service hey...

Re: Is the Gpz7000 mac compatible?
Howdy, I just wanted to say, it might be worth checking out Oracle Virtual Box. It's free software that makes it possible to run windows os, & windows apps from within mac os. Like the dual boot setup mentioned above. You still need a copy of windows. But for me the big plus for doing it this way, is that there's no leaving everything you run on the mac temporarily behind. I reckon that's a pretty big hassle just to fire up a single app.
If you search youtube with "Installing Virtual Box and Windows 7 on Mac OS" There are a couple of step by step videos that are explained well & should be enough info to give it a go.
PS
Before I wrote anything here. I installed exchange 2 like this for a bit of a look, and it was all smooth sailing. Obviously no GPZ to try it out for real, so my disclaimer is that it will depend on the GPZ USB driver playing nice. But that really should be no issue these days. Hope it helps.
