ok last bit info on my f1a4 minelab
Hi again i got the two mods i described before done. first was the headphone connector on the control box, i had the old military plug taken out and a new one 8th jack connection put on. And second had the military plug for the coil changed to a standard minelab plug so i can now use many of the coils mono, DD, ect and at the same time Dave changed the military connecter on the camo coil to a standard connecter so it can be used still , as its an unusual coil as it puts out a cylindrical pattern all the way down, wheras the normal mono and concentric coils put out a cone shaped pattern, ??? Interesting indeed, i must find out how they achieved this, and i presume it was only ever made available in this form for the military. Ok so that is the modifications done i wont.be haveing any other mods done. (because like they say if it ain't broke don't try. And fix it). And these detectors work extremly well i am realy impressed, i decided just out of curiosity to fit a COILTEK 14-inch DD PRO COIL to my f1a4 detector just simply because i prefer the DD coils and lots of guys have raved on this coils affective capabilitys on smaller gold and larger gold at good depths, and i want to also use it at the beach so wanted to make sure i had a waterproof coil fitted not just a splashproof coil like most coils are. So there you go guys i am going to test this nice little unit out keeping the 14 inch dd on and will keep you guys informed as to how it now performs and what if very much how the new dd coil improves the depth capability and the sensitivity, especially on gold chains which most detectors have difficulty finding, it was a damn good detector on chains and gold before so i am expecting hopefully for a big improvement on the standard camo coil.WE WILL SEE if it doesn't vastly improve the depth and sensitivity, much i will revert back to the camp standard as that performs realy well so we will see. I will be realy carefull on finds measure depths found ect. Regards krakenup ken. Oops nearly forgot the guy to do the mods is Dave Collins a realy nice , helpfull guy knows what he is doing and does good work at reasonable prices. His number is 0408345208mobile or 07-31185265 tell him ken from Sa reccomended him.
