Calling for Ideas and Organisers for this yeas Laanecoorie Gold Bash 2014
By about the end of Feb I would like to call a meeting with interested members who would like to help in organising this year Laanecoorie Gold Bash. I have had a couple of people who have already put up their hands to help but I would like to have a few more. I would also like to hear from any members that may have an idea to improve this year bash. We are always open to suggestions. These people to, are more than welcome to come to the next meeting with their ideas. Last year Bash was a great success, but it did not just happen, there was a lot of hard work and planning put in, that started many months earlier. We had a fantastic write up in this months GG&T Mag. thanks to Mariner. So the foundations has been laid for this year Bash so lets build on that.
Please put up any ideas you may have or if you would like to come on board as one of the organisers just contact me or put it up on this topic.

Wombat.
Due to unpredictable work requirements I can't commit to helping organise the event even though I would love to. But what I can offer is to assist with any help needed during the event. I'II also be willing to show any new owners of the 4500 how to tune and balance thier detectors as well as a few settings to get thier 4500 to run stable. I'm not claiming to be an expert but have enough knowledge to point them in the right direction.
My daugter Shae has volunteed to help with raffle draw as an assistant again

Laanecoorie 2014
OK ... during the Bash, I'll bring both the Keene 151 Dry Washer for display/working display (probably best done a little away from the other displays because of dust). I'll also bring the GoldHog stacker again ... but this time I might see if I can set it up in "recirculating mode", as a working display ... which will be a bit more interesting for people.
I might need a pile of "diggings" for the displays though ... I can use the pile firstly for the dry washer, and then re-use it for the GoldHog.
I am also making myself available for anything else that I can do online from here ... country SA.
Just let me know what bits 'n pieces you would like me to do!!

G'Day Wombat
I would like to offer some topics for Demos / How To sessions
- Gear for beginners
- Getting to know your detector in your back yard
- What geology to look for
- Swinging at Night
As an old TAFE teacher I could help out presenting topics 1 & 2, but you need someone else for 3 & 4

Re: Calling for Ideas and Organisers for this yeas Laanecoorie Gold Bash 2014
Hi Guys & Gals I'm calling our first meeting for the Laanecoorie Gold Bash for Saturday 15th March. at about 7pm. I'm planning to have it at the Laanecoorie caravan park. This meeting will be open for anyone that would like to come along not just committee personal. Wombatroo can not make it at this meeting but will try and get to the next one. Peter (Mariner) said he will try and come to the meeting to give us a few directions on his roll of last year and some of his ideas for us to take on board. As you may know Peter has stood down for this years Bash.
Some of the ideas that I would like to put forward for this year is.
(1) What charity do we support this year or do we still stick with the cancer foundation as like last year.
(2) Do we start a memorial trophy or something like that for Jim Stewart and how do we present it to the winner and for what.?
(3) how do we get more displays for the weekend.
(4) should we bring in other interest group like jemstone clubs?
(5) let members have car boot sale over the weekend that are prospecting related.
(6) how we get this year as our Guest Speeker.
(7) do we follow the same lines as last year, PMAV prize, Raffles, Auction, training, ect.?

How about a photo competion with the trophy going to the member whose photo best captures the essence of the modern day prospector and voted for at the bash by the attendees

Big Fella
It could be of anything as long as it captures the spirit of the modern prospector eg. someone panning, sluicing or detecting. Or a group of people sitting round a campfire after a day in the field capturing the mate ship and spirits sorry I meant spirit. The members will vote for whichever photo they believe captures it the best
Photo must have been taken in the calendar year by the member who submits it. This year 2014 photo next year 2015 ect ect.

Re: Calling for Ideas and Organisers for this yeas Laanecoorie Gold Bash 2014
Hi Wombat,
I personally think the Cancer Foundation again as so many of us are touched by cancer.
Car boot sale great idea, I know I have books etc that I would like to get rid of, and I'm always after a bargain.
I really enjoyed the training and certainly got a lot out of it.
I have friends that raise money for people going through hard times. What they do is have items that everyone donates anything, (new of course) if there are a number of small items like food, made into hampers, then they sell tickets at $20 each. On the night they draw out the numbers. This would give heaps more people a chance to help out without having to be there for the meetings. Like me who can't do weekends.
Tickets could be sent out a couple of months early to members who could sell them. On the tickets the members would print their name so we knew who sold it and could take the item back to the winner.
We could still have the auction as well because that's a lot of fun.
I'm sure there are many out there that could get donations of goods.
Come on guys ideas
We all enjoy the weekend but it doesn't just happen.

Now that's a great idea!! Car boot auction/sale!! I've got a few things that I could bring along ... a small sleuce (unused), a few things that have only been used once or twice ... probably good for a few dollars towards the cause!!
Hmmm! Should start thinking about sorting some stuff out. Even second hand goods are great bargains for beginners & old hands alike!
