Well said about the Hand of Faith.Shame on our government to let an important and valuable item of historical significance slip through our fingers, and for what,a fist full of short term, extra dollars,to keep it in the country.
Just ask the owners of the Golden Nugget casino, how much revenue, the Hand of Faith has brought in from tourism alone,I'm sure you could multiply it by 10 times, that what they paid for the nugget. So much for considering and protecting our tourism industry, not to mention losing an item of great heritage and significant historical importance for Australia.
Cheers kon61
Fat chance of our Gumment forking out - say - a million bucks for a big nugget. That would actually be helping someone in Australia. They are much too busy giving away HUNDREDS of millions to the likes of Indonesia!

I got kicked out of crusoe reservoir a few weeks ago by a big, pissed off, council park ranger. He reckons you cant prospect in there! Is that true?

If someone here told you you could prospect in there would you take their advice over what a park ranger told you?
Keep jumping the fence and going in there. You'll soon find out.

Robert, How dry is your sense of humour mate?.....anyways you gave me an excellent idea....my wife is sewing the words "Park Ranger' of the front and back of my detecting outfit at the moment....I figure I'll have my 'jump the fence' detecting spots to myself.......<until I run into the real one of course!>..in which case I'll demand to see his credentials as I'm told there are imposters out there...... G'day Larry,
Mate, you need a sense of humour in this game. Why not get your lovely lady to do another one that reads "Mining Warden". You'll have all bases covered then.

.Are the Easter Holidays coming up ???????, seems to be a bit of a Trend around the "Triangle" , Big Nuggets appearing just like that
Call me a cynic
Oh well, it may be true
Been a while since this post started and the above was written and yes just like the easter bunny the easter mystery finds appeared this year also.

Did you see the article in the Ady a few weeks ago? About the 50 ouncer found in the Bendigo area, Well it is TRUE , Not just an Easter story this time. There was also a spot on the channel 7 news with a piture of the beauty. Great news for Bgo Tourism I reckon.
Gives us all a boost to know that it is still "findable" in Victoria, Cheers goldiggin2.

Call me a pragmatist but .....
How the dickens did they ever move the darned thing? 642 oz = 40.125 lbs ... I'd hate to be trying to cart that thing out of the scrub and into the back of my old truck

Re: 642 ounce nugget found at Crusoe Reservoir, Bendigo!!!
Getascripter, you ask how they ever moved a 40lb nugget?,via the feverish adrenalin rush method.Put it this way, lobbing on to a forty pound nugget of gold,to a prospector, would have the capabilities of bringing, not only extraordinary strength, but bring sight back to the blind and the quickstep back to the lame.
Cheers kon61.
