maps for gps
hi all, just wondering about maps for my local area and how to find fault lines, old mines and general prospecting areas. im in north queensland??? also chasing a lead on how to find and load maps onto my handheld gps as I have just got into using a gps for detecting, cheers joe.

The thread below is pretty interesting and contains data to be used with G-earth, but should be adaptable to other digital mapping gear such as OziExplorer etc:

Maybe you could be a little more specific about what "part" of a geo' map you want to interpret. Even if you have had an introduction to geology/geomorphology at tertiary level - geo' maps can still seem daunting. The terminolgy and symbols are a bit of a boggle.
Maybe a year 12 or Uni text might be a good start to explain some of the terminology.
