Phantomeel,Welcome to the forum. If that's the case, your better off looking at an XT 17000 or 18000 for which(depending on condition) I would pay no more than $400 for.The FTs,were ok but suffered from ground noise under the hotter mineralized ground conditions.

i have a 16000 in the shed and a 17000 and to be honest I would not pay anything for them yes they both were good machines in there day but they are now obsolete... this means if anything goes wrong with them they cant be fixed.. my 17000 was knocked now will not work it was a great machine but there is no-one to fix it. I will miss it as it was my first detector, when buying a second hand machine check minelabs obsolete list if the machine is on there be carefull. my opinion only

...I would find the nearest tree and wrap it around it.... they are as noisy as hell.. good in their day BUT.....I agree I wouldnt pay anything for one. Just my thoughts anyway.

also mate, I still own the GT16000 and I did read somewhere that the FT16000 was a hell of a lot noisier than the GT.
cheers dave
