should i try to drain the battery if not planning to use the detector for a long time. ie leave unit on until it shuts down or will the battery be ok. I have memory of some rechargable batteries needing to be flat before charging again .

Hi Artrix,

from just attending the Minelab training day last Sunday, the instructor actually covered this topic, he said that if a Battery is to be left in storage then it should be fully charged. This maintains the battery in it's best condition, stated that after a couple of months should also only have dropped to approx 90% or so of it's full charge.

Hope this helps,

Regards

yeah Lithium Ion batteries can be charged at anytime, even after 5 mins use....they dont have the memory effect like the old Nicads do...and as mentioned above, they should be stored fully charged for longest life.
