Zed battery tip

Hi guys just wanted to let you know that the CTX battery works in the GPZ and the empty aa battery carrier for the CTX also works in the GPZ.
So if you already own a CTX you already have a emergency back up battery!

The empty battery carrier takes AA size? how many, as this may be a good backup idea as I think it can be bought as an accessory.

Hey Dave, the carrier is listed as an accessory and takes 8 AA's... Part # 3011-0117
      Might be checking how much one is myself, nothing worse than a flat batt.

Thanks for the info on the batteries GoldHound, good to know, but we have ordered a couple of spares for ours. At least they are cheaper than the GPXs.

CTX battery is $185
Alkaline batt holder is $55

CTX batt weights 200grams

7k battery weights 400grams

Maybe of interest maybe not?....but the CTX battery or Alkaline holder will make the coil seem 200ish grams heavier. Might not seem like a lot of weight off the back of the machine...but add 200 grams to the front.???

Just a thought.

Your right about that extra 200grms, but I think you will find the extra 200grms will actually help balance the machine IMHO.  thanks for the info on the prices etc, it is a cheaper option.

thanks NARRAWA, seems obvious i am going to have to use a hipstick or bungee setup, if so the 200gms less weight will be acceptable anyway ... kev (thanks for the prices)

If it's not to much trouble mate, can you give me the weight of the Alkaline battery holder and 8xAA's, as it might nearly weight the same as the original 7000 battery at 400grams, and this would solve the balance point problem which you describe.

Just to be clear I never cared about the weight saving I was merely letting members know that they worked so people with them knew that they had a back up battery already if they have a CTX.
Or could purchase the empty pack as a cheap option.
Nothing more to it.

Thanks Dale, I think the holder that takes the AA is what I'll do, as I don't have the CTX so I can't use it's battery. I do like the idea of a backup of some sort.

I had heard the the CTX battery will run the 7000 for a day but the battery pack doesnt have the power to run the unit.

Gday Check the specks in manual I think one battery is only half the capacity and I have been told there is only about $50 difference

The battery works fine I tried it in mine but the capacity is about half that of the gpz battery so it will last half as long.
