Going wireless
Hi guys,
You may recall a while back, I was seeking opinions as to which wireless system to go for, as I was getting really ticked off with all the cables associated with detecting. I'd strapped the battery onto the side of the detector, so that was one cable and a harness out of the way.
I decided to bite the bullet and go for the Logitech wireless system and have used it twice so far. Cost was NZ$143.00 with adapter plug, fron Dick Smith. I find it great to be without the headphone cable! Especially yesterday where there was lots of broom overhanging the creek, so no snagging there! It was audible enough when working in running water, and headphones were tight enough to stay on readily but not uncomfortable after a few hours (on and off)
Disadvantages (or something to just get used to)...
(1) they're quite small, so a little fiddly.
(2) the LED's are very small, so in bright light I have to check with my glasses on to see if it's connecting with sender unit (but that's just my 55 years showing!)
(3) periodically they will 'disconnect' for a second or so, but no drama really.
And lastly, there seems to be a slight lag in signal response but again it's no big deal as I use 'slow' and sensitive extra on my 4500 with a coiltek 10 x 5 mono.
Results generally this weekend - 3.7 gms from very shallow crevices (0 to 3 inches at the most) averaging 0.2 to 0.3gms with one ugly nugglet at 1.04gms! (MY BEST TO DATE I'M ASHAMED TO SAY! LOL)
If anyone has any opinions/ideas on improvements or different systems, I'g welcome the advice.
Cheers,
Rick.

Going wireless
Hi All
I am wireless for a wile now and i love it, use it on my 4000.
For the battery i use the pocket rocket system.
For the transmision to the headset i use a gitar transmitter, T-bone gt-ews, this is a UHF 863-865 MHz transmitter
so no bluetooth, in my point off view, bluetooth is to slow.
As headset i use a sennheiser rs 100, butt others in the range will do, BUTT not all.
This feels lighter than my E-trek, easely to use all day without bungee.
Kind regarts from Holland

Re: Going wireless
Thanks for that information Gerrit. Just out of curiosity, what sort of stuff are you finding in Holland?
Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Rick
In Holland we find everything from bronsage up til now, so celtic, roman, middelages.
For this I use the e-trek
Use my 4000 for wherever there was a coinhort found, to trye to find the last one,
run it with mono only, so every piece off iron has to come out pfffffffffffffff.
For the gold mostly in de swis montains.
