GPX 5000 Battery and Speaker Mod Empty GPX 5000 Battery and Speaker Mod

I hated wires always getting caught up on bushes, and dangling from my harness, so I changed out to have it all on the detector with a little modification. So much better now. I would be interested in seeing others who have done similar. Please post pics if you could.
Thanks,
Dave

Looking at where the leads are going, he has the battery in the side pocket of the control box cover.
Some people put the battery into a pocket sewn on the inside of the bottom of the cover,
it fits perfectly up under the legs of the detector.

Yes like Flak says, there is a small velcro pocket on the side of the detector, where the logo is, I place the battery in there, since the battery is really slim, it really does not stick out to much. I can usually go 2 to 3 full days with the 10k mA battery without a charge.

GPX 5000 Battery and Speaker Mod Empty Gold Screamer

Post  hookey13 Wed Sep 14, 2011 8:16 pm

The 'Gold Screamer' sold on USA sites is pretty much what has been done here but on a slightly neater basis. Battery and AMP are fixed onto the side of the pouch. See http://www.nuggethunting.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7562
Cost is around $470 posted if you search around their sites. I purchased one and cannot fault it. Two batteries supplied which each lasts for a full day out in the field. When wanting to dig or put the GPX down, just unhook the bungy and thats it. Well worth a look at!or make up your own as has been done by dolandave

How have you found having the speaker so far away from your ears.

Artrix, I have a longer speaker cable so I can place it on my harness near my ears, or on the detector.
Gim, Nice looking setup, thanks for the pic...

Hi dave, this is how I made my 5000 wireless by using the Minelab original battery and a power lead 35cm long.
Works like a charm.
Cheers
