Flashing 5000 battery
Hi all, I think I sent a message in the wrong section earlier. I am looking for information on where to send my 5000 battery for repairs. Last night it started flashing orange constantly after we had a power failure due to a big storm. I tried it on my 12 volt car charger and it did the same. The Minelab book said the orange flashings means there is a problem in the battery, so I will need to send it away and have it fixed. I have ordered a new battery from The Prospectors Patch ( cheapest with 5% off with free membership) so I will have a replacement in the next few days, Hopefully. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Cheers Blinkie. Have a great GOLD year.

Re: Flashing 5000 battery
i would just get in contact with minelab... depending on how old the detector is they have a 3 year warranty
so minelab will replace it for nothing.
cheers

U/S 5000 battery
hi Guys, Sorry so long as I dont get on the box a lot. Thanks for the info. I will answer as I go;;
Sandy, Who is "mechanic" forum member???? sounds good to me...
TTT - I am not really sure if it was a power surge as we were having a big storm that night. Lots of lightning. It may have just been that time for it to say "enoughs enough" Thanks anyhow.
STOPPSY- I checked and the warranty on a battery, is only 6 months. I sent the battery down to Minelab and they sent it back saying that they do not repair and only sell new ones, try a battery place.
ARARAT - hi mate, I had a look at their website (looks good)and will ring them as soon as I get a chance. I will also try a battery place in Darwin this week when I go up(112kms) and see if they can maybe do a job on it as well.
I already have a new battery here, 2 days from Prospectors Place, so I am ready to go as soon as I get a day off. Bloody work, gets in the road of good things.
Thanks to all of you for the info. Must go as there is a very cold LONG neck waiting for me in the fridge. Happy gold hunting. Cheers Blinkie.
PS. will let you know what happens.

Re: Flashing 5000 battery
Hi Big Fella, Thanks for the info, I tried it out but with no joy I also tried it on the 12volt car charger. I ended up sending it to John Hye. ARARAT gave me the website earlier. He did a check on the batteries and said they were U/S and would install new better batteries and get it back to me for $190. He sounds like a good bloke, very easy to talk to. I'm a happy man. All I need to do now is get the coil over a piece of the lovely yellow stuff and see if it all works. This will leave me with a spare battery as well.
Thanks to you guys that sent in info to me. Very much appreciated. Will let you know how it all goes >>>>>> Thanks and Cheers Blinkie.
