blue. paying by bank deposit shouldn't change the fact you can't recover your money.

your bank will have a resolution process where you can file a claim that you paid that person a certain amount of $$$ and he never delivered on the sale. the bank will make their own investigation into the matter and they should reinburse you your money.

something you should definately look into.

hi goldbait i paid cash into his account i have reported it to the bank but there is not much they can do as it was an agreement between two parties,but they are looking into it.

I am also sorry to hear that you got fleeced on this forum and hope the police and your bank can catch the thief and recover your money.
When having conversations with your bank you may wish to mention the 'Banking Ombudsman' in your conversation. This 3rd party body is powerful and from my experience most banks prefer to resolve customer complaints rather than being referred to them.

I hope the moderators of this forum are also on their toes and not asleep at the wheel to prevent this low life popping up again and again under new false account id's.

When it looks too good to be true, ask one of our fellow members for advice it doesn't cost you anything.

this had happen not long ago with 2 members that paid for the items and didn't get them, or the money back. i was happy to step in and help the 2 members to get there money back from the seller. it took a few weeks but things worked out in the end. the problem is you take the chance from buying of ebay, forums ect, this is why i buy from a dealer or someone i know. if you get the chance to go and check the item out do so, so you know the item is not a fake post or get someone who lives close to check for you... it's sad that there are people who will take the chance of ripping others off, but it's good to see members posting to watchout for these post/people...

I have a 2nd hand 5000 for sale and I want $6500.00 including all the gear--theres nothing else you need but was a bit afraid to advertise coz I didnt want any flak after seeing this doggy machine and people comparing trying to play one off against another..

A basic 5k will always command a very good return anything less then smell a rat..and theres no waiting list for new ones to my knowledge..but there again I have been known to b wrong..

Sorry for what has happened to you and as a moderator on the forum I can tell you we are trying to do as much as what we can to stop this type of thing happening.

Can you give us all an up date as to what the police have told you so that we can be more informed.

I personally have just purchased another 4500 from a forum members son and can I say I did have a hassle free transaction, but I did take some precaution such as getting a copy of the sellers drivers license and then did some google searching on the info provided.
Looking at what you have been through I think I was lucky, but in light of your situation maybe I should have used PayPal to do the money transaction and paid the fees??

Unless you can pick it up in person it's not worth it. It's worth jumping in the car and driving for a couple of hours if your spending 5 or 6 grand. If its interstate, plane flights cost bugger all in relation to what your spending, do an overnighter and enjoy the trip away from home. It's not worth risking 5 or 6 k buying unseen from someone that you dont know just to save a couple hundred bucks.

The bank would have all the details of the transfer--address etc-banks are banks and they all bullshit to everyone, unfortunately--maybe u should approach the current affairs programs and try to uncover this low life with a sting..

i do hope things work out mate... i see the dog hasn't posted anything since the start that's saying something straight up. i have sold 3 detectors and have had no probs with them getting to there new owners... just some people are wankers and do this sort of stuff and makes it harder for others to sell stuff..

Hi everyone, i have been holding off on this post as i thought i better let it have a chance to turn up before jumping up and saying that i have also been scammed by this seller. I am new to the forum and purchased the above detector last friday, haven't heard a word from the seller since I depositing the money on friday and him saying it was sent, i have called Numerous times and messaged asking for tracking numbers etc but no word!! I have been in contact with blue and it sounds like we have been dealing with the same person, same name , account details etc. so just thought i would add this conversation and say be careful who you deal with and if it sounds like a bargin it is probably to good to be true!

Having had some previous dealings with the Murray Bridge Police Station I strongly suggest you DEMAND to speak with the Senior Officer, preferably the District Inspector (who may now be stationed at Mt Barker Police Station ... Yep! it's a really weird set up!)

Do NOT take no for an answer (but be polite, of course!) Once you start to get up the ranks, you will find that these people actually get a little more professional ... SAPOL is rather 'politically sensitive'!

MAKE SURE that you tell them that there are currently at least 2 documented incidents of this fraud, and possibly more ... and suggest that as the fraud has been committed OVER STATE BORDERS, it may well be appropriate to call in the Australian Federal Police! Also note that you have the contact details for this awful person (really dumb!). Then watch them jump!!!!!!

Put your complaint/report into a full & detailed form. Perhaps invite them to check out the details that have been presented within this forum. Tell them about the eBay connection. Just spend some time, quietly, methodically, succinctly putting your story down on 'email'. Invite SAPOL to correspond with you before you go to the newspapers, &/or to the Aust Fed Pol.

The fact that you have FULL identifying details of this creton will make things VERY easy for them!

Do you know the BSB number of the bank you paid the money into?,you may be able to track them down to the town where the money was withdrawn from which may turn out to be different to the town the seller told you & will give you a general area to where they probably live.

I would also consider getting in touch with the Queensland FRAUD SQUAD who cover fraud Australia Wide on ebay & may be able to assist you in obtaining information from the forum which cannot be given out under privacy laws.

Hi all interested forum members,

I'm sure we must have a person in Vic Pol who might be able to help out here. To me it looks like this person of interest is located in Vic ( somewhere ) and the offence has happened to residents of Vic so how about a little investigation to see what can be uncovered??

Another method might be to take it to a ACA or Today Tonight and ask them if they want to do a story in Internet fraud, I'm sure they will jump at it. These buggers are great at tracking down characters like this.

The third option is if both the people who got ripped off contact a local PI and for a few hundred dollars I'm sure they will come up with an address??

I like the first option and hope there is a good VicPol member out there that can help??
