Re: gpx 5000 extras
if u want to go detecting this season then u will need a detector.
u have a few options and if a gpx5000 get u excited then go for it.
I certainly wouldnt be holding my breath for a new machine to surpass the 5K this year at least.
The major downfall of prospectors when visiting WA is they go to their old stamping grounds year in and year out..
once u take gold out of that patch its gone--unlike fishing where they can replenish themselves. Consequently gold is getting harder to find in those highly popular camping areas.
Price wise they r $6500 with a 3rd coil. The only other coil I suggest u get is a 8" coil to have a go on some of flogged grouds.
Be prepaired to play with the control nobs --thats what they r there for. Thats why everyone gets a manual, its meant to b red.
there are a couple of videos/cds out there which are usefull.
I've red about people whinging about emi and I am not familiar with eastern states but here in the west its easily over come by leaving the machine in Manual tune once u have set it up and soon as it starts warbling just tweek the right hand control button --
People need to spend more time prospecting and setting there machines up than sitting at home whinging about problems or Minelab.
These r my opinions only.

Might be a good idea to check out www.Coffsoutdoorworld.com.au that's your local dealer get hands on and see what you like, the gpx 4800 looks like good value at the moment.
