Can anyone tell me what sort of rock this is. I picked it up somewhere on a gold field in WA.

Specked a similar one around Wilson's Patch/Leonora, have been unable to identify it.

I think I found my strange little rock on Banjawarn, about 80klm north east of Wilsons Patch, so maybe not too far away. But I would love to find out what it is.

I have seen similar in Victoria where quartz reefs are 'sandwiched' between bands of ironstone. Gold producing reefs have often been nearby.

I'm thinking outside the square, I don't think it is rock- maybe smelted copper or sludge ??
