Nearly ready.
Great detector - watch out the Triangle!!!.
What's the box at the top? Booster or 7.3V battery holder. set-up looks good. Where are you off to first - Ballarat area? Creswick would be nice, except they have cut down so many trees I hardly recognised my old sites in there. Plus climbing over felled pine trees isnt exactly fun.
Good luck mate.

Re: My SD2200, and I'm ready to go
Its running a Detacc super regular and super enhancer, apparently boosts the std 6v batt to 7.2v, ive also put on a cable guard and arm strap, new bungee cord, i live in Bathurst, plenty of local gold fields to explore here.

Nearly ready.
apologies mate - misread your location. I run a 2200 and love it. had some really good finds with it. Couple of my mates have gone over to 5000s but a couple kept their 2200s. Still a great detector and was a big jump on the earlier SDs. The 18" coil is a killer on these machines. I wish you very good luck. Love the purple box cover - looks better than the wanky camo versions.

Re: My SD2200, and I'm ready to go
Woo up there, pipeclay!! I've got one of those wanky cammo covers It matches my cam gear that I wear when detecting!! I just LOVE all of the pockets, and all the places to hang bits 'n pieces.
Guess that's why the Services utilize that kind of clothing, eh? Seriously though, Army gear is just so comfortable, and so handy, and I'm really used to having all the added bits when I'm out and about. (and I can hide myself when I make my BIG find ... sometime soon ... I hope )

Re: Nearly ready.
I wear cams for a living - 30 years and going strong. Aust Cams are made to be worn on a couple of patrols and thrown away - there are serious issues with the current material. the design is OK but the US 'rip stop' material is the best. I personally could think of nothing worse than going detecting with anything remotely camouflaged. Mind you, my younger soldiers think I am mad that I go bush 'to relax". Each to their own. I simply use a leather cover made by a saddle maker - $80 and still going strong.

Check out the clothing section at Sord Aust, fits me well and cheap too, i took the camo cover off and threw it, im hoping for a bit more weather protection with the end covers attached. I normally wear camo too, we sell it at work.

Re: Nearly ready.
Jeff reference wet weather covers - I spotted a ripper the other day. I usually tie/tape a plastic bag around the whole box. Spotted a box wrapped in glad wrap. How clever is that? Goes on quick -comes off quick. As for military gear - each to their own. I wont even wear the issue boots!! The only military things I carry are a silva compass, first aid kit, clasp knife, matches and the opener from a ration pack. I think its more of getting away from it thing.

Re: My SD2200, and I'm ready to go
Hey JeffH ... I bought this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221047691585?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Hope the link works! It's a full cover, front & back, comes with covers for 'everything', literally! Cost me $90 and came from Bulgaria ... the set is absolutely brilliant!!!
I was Navy in my younger years. I wear my son's army gear now ... he's done his time and has added a few inches around the waist line ... so I scored all of his Army gear! Nope! I don't wear the boots!! (Eeeek! I have more consideration for my feet!!)

Re: Nearly ready.
Kate - yes I spotted your post, and I think nerodesigns the other night. They look well made and robust. The funniest cam thing I have seen was a photo (in an old GGT??? I think) of a couple of guys on quad bikes. EVERYTHING was cammed - coils, bikes, them, detectors etc etc. I thought - if they get lost, hurt, break down the rescue people will have a hell of a time finding them. I also pack a yellow panel marker that can be seen from the air.
As for Navy - I still have a cask (unopened) of pussers rum from the HMAS Lewin (is that right?) senior sailors mess. Many years ago - must be well matured by now.

Re: My SD2200, and I'm ready to go
JeffH ... Yep! That's right ... there is a battery pocket, which I don't use for that ... but I do put a few other handy things in there instead!! My battery pack is on the back of my harness. I've got another version, which I don't like as much. The Bulgarian one is as tough as nails ... really good quality!
Pipeclay ... Hmmmm!! The rum just might be VERY smoooooth .... NOT like the wet mess on HMAS Leeuwin!! ... I would have thought that cask would have been VERY empty!!!!
