Re: Found an old Token
This might help, Good find
Copper one Penny Token, minted by an unknown British Mint, circa 1854. Issued by Alfred Nicholas, of the Liverpool Tea Warehouse, Hobart. Nicholas established a retail warehouse, offering goods such as sugar, brandy, ale and tobacco. He also took a keen interest in the colony's administration and was a member of the Tasmanian Legislative Assembly in 1858 and 1859, representing Hobart and Kingsborough.
Description:
A round copper token (34 mm diameter) featuring the name, address and business of the company which issued the tokens: Alfred Nicholas, Liverpool Tea Warehouse, Liverpool St., Hobart Town. The reverse features Britannia seated on a rock facing to left holding an olive branch extended in her right hand and resting a trident on her left forearm; above, BRITANNIA.
Cheers Mark

Re: Found an old Token
Great find mate
It threw me at first when I saw that penny side. It seems in great shape and must be worth a few bob.

Re: Found an old Token
$35 bucks on fleabay for one in fair cond though they are fairly rare. The area is an old camp site about 20x20m with heaps of deep junk targets so I dig 1 hour a week so far 3 old coins and 2 x 5g nuggets have turned up in about 6 months. It will probably take me 6 years at this rate to dig all the targets but worthwhile.

Re: Found an old Token
This may be useful reference for members re: Token finds. It's the most comprehensive site I've found containing all of the major token issues of Australia including rarity rating, indication of value, and pictures (click on business name of token for these)

Hope this is useful.
