GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
Went out yesterday with wombat and pulled these little beauties. the token has been reserched and i did'nt think it had that much history, but turned out a fantastic find. the nugs came in at 0.12,0.25,.0.69g . as for the buttons and musket ball, i am always wrapped in finding those but never have i found so many. the big question is, what is the pentant. it has some sort of symbol on the front and the back has the star in themiddle surounded by moons, this is going to get the thinking cap on. my thoughts lean towards , celtic , maybe, and is worn by a women???. anyhow the finding out is all part of the fun, thanks wombat for the company and sorry you did'nt find your birthday nug.

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
Mate well done on your finds and it was my pleasure being out with you over the two days. I'm also thinking now that the pentant may be Chineese as there were many chineese in that area. You may have to Google Chineese simbles and pentants.
And thanks again mate for a great couple of days.

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
Although it is small, I think that is a star of david in the centre of the front, so it may have jewish significance?

The pendant had a felt liner and perfume was put in it and worn around the neck of a lady!

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
Gee Flyspecks ! You had wombat's birthday luck..
You will have to go out again together and rub shoulders, so wombat can rub the luck back his way so he can find his birthday nuggy.
Looks like you found all the buttons to some old diggers fly pants
There must be more goodies in that spot, looks like you might have stumbled onto an old miners camp.
Nice gold too actually all the finds are great! Well done.

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
A BIG THANKS to all the replies, but ARK, your the man , it make perfect sence. after putting up the post i sat and futher inspected the pendant and realised that it was in a locket form that had been a bit squashed but could not work out why the star and moons didnt go right through. i dont dare to try and open it, as i recon it will fall apart, so it will stay the way it is . as for the symbol, i spent many hours today trying to find what it ment....i guess it was purely decorative but i hope one day to find different. so ark, when i finally catch up with you sport....my shout mate . cheers

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
French yer OK I never thought of French but it would have been then worn by any national women not just French lady's as I think there were not many French on the gold fields in the early days in Maryborough.

Re: GREAT FINDS...WHAT IS IT???
Thanks for stating the obvious ! Not that I asserted that it was worn by a French lady LOL! It could have been a welsh lady with liking for French pendants

Token.
The token looks to be in very good condition on the surface I can see. I have a value from a catalogue that is 30 years old and it is:
Very Fine - $45.00
Extremely Fine - $100.00
Uncirculated - $200.00
If both sides are the same then it should come in somewhere between Very Fine and Extremely Fine. Remember those prices are 30 years old so you could probably double it at least. Don't clean it with anything if you intend selling it. Tokens don't appreciate in value as much as coins but that was an excellent find.
