Re: Tibbooburra and surrounds
G'day Steve & Lea
Go see Cathy the publican at the Family Hotel.Ask for Anitas phone no.Shes the pastoral lease holder of the Warratah creek diggings,Little Bendigo,White Elephant diggings and surrounding district areas.Ask for Mark Blacks phone no. as well if you intend on prospecting a few klm east of the township Common(Nuggety gully,Tunnel Hill area). Both places will incur a small fee,per person, per night, usually left at the hotel,to be picked up by pastoralits after permission to prospect on above leases is granted
Cheers kon61.

Hi from Neale in Biloela Queensland
Hi
I just saw on the12.00 noon 29 Feb 2012 ABC News.
The road sign to Tibooburra and surrounding areas closed due to flooding with more heavy rain due in the next two days.
I hope it uncovers more gold with these floods.
Regards Neale

Re: Tibbooburra and surrounds
Gday, my best mate is Mark Black's nephew. Ive been to Tibooburra a few times, its a fantastic place. Blacky is a great guy and is usually more than happy to point you in the right direction. Was talking to my mate today and he said that a few blokes went out after the rain the other day and crawled around where they had been doing some earth works. Each bloke returned with a small handful each
Good luck!!
Good luck!!

Re: Tibbooburra and surrounds
Last time at Mount Browne the mice were really bad. They were jumping into the vehicles whenever a door was left open. The two mouse traps i set in the Troopy caught a few of them. Not sure how bad they will be over autumn.
Take a couple good headlamps and do some night detecting. Its a good way to get the gold tallies up during a short stay. Less EM at night and easier to hear...if its not a howling wind.
If you are interested, the large gravel deposits on the plains on the way into the mount browne sheds or the dirt track back to Milparinka have some nice petrified wood logs and dinosaur droppings (coprolites) in them. The white sediment plains in the area are off the edge of the gold areas but have produced some nice meteorites as well. (they are easier to see on the white/light covered ground),

Re: Tibbooburra and surrounds
I read somewhere that mount browne and some other areas have been closed to detecting because of people steeling equipment and not filling in there holes. Anybody know if that changed and will all the areas be open again for this year?
