Trespaser problems!
Hi guys bit of a whinge, the old man owns a property in the triangle (don't want to say where), it's a bush block with old timer diggings. Each time I go up there I am finding more and more fresh diggings (9 out of 10 unfilled holes ) and just found a massive hole today with a marker tied to the tree!! The property is easily seen as private and yet people are still jumping the fence. We go up there fairly reguly but obviously not enough to catch them in the act. I have put up a few signs but I need to obviously try something else, anyone have any ideas or been in the same situation? I'm starting to get pretty p****d off!
P.s. The worst bit is I didn't find anything myself

I think Breaker Morant looked up the Rules and Regulations book and found the appropriate rule.

Trespas(s)er problems
Try and get their car Rego numbers.Make friends with a bikie working in the RTA and find their home address. Get yourself a Ghillie suit and start detecting their back yards at 2 in the morning.Don't,whatever you do,fill your holes in..especially the one you take a dump in..Hope this helps..Dave

Trespaser Problems!
Well said Wombat but a few vinos on a Sunday night will get the thinking outside the box. Is it too much hassle/expense to put a claim/exploration license on your own land to turn the trespassers into claim-jumpers?..Cheers..Dave

Re: Trespaser problems!
hi B.P. IT IS THE AGE OLD PROBLEM OF THE FEW SPOILING EVERYTHING FOR THE MAJORITY. it will never change,in spite of more regulations and laws. as the very fabric of society breaks down, it is getting to a level of every man for himself.
greed is the factor, get as much as you can, don,t worry about anyone else. these same people don,t like it if you impinge on their property and chattel, but don,t care if they do.
as the world situation and monetary policies cause more difficulties to the average '' joe '', so will this and other problems increase. only when the pollies and the mega rich experience the same scenerios will things change. but don,t hold your breath. perhaps put up signs that state the area is under constant surveillance and patrols ? look at the situation in W.A in lease/property trespass and theft. sadly, it will get worse, and property owners will be angrier and far less tolerant.
all the best in your endeavours mate. cheers.

Re: Trespaser problems!
Hi Bluepoint,
Put up an electric fence. A. it will deter entry and B. The constant spike noises will drive just about anyone nuts.
Cheers Mick

Re: Trespaser problems!
Mechanic hit the nail right on the head, create your own EMI.
Surely, there's someone on this forum who knows how to make a simple but powerful EMI Emitting Electical Thingy (EEET)

Re: Trespaser problems!
Hi, You said you put up some sign's, what do they say? If it says keep out, I don't think that's enough incentive!
If it was on my land I would have sign's that said "Trespasses will be shot" that will make them think twice I would have them about 30 meters in from your boundary so you don't get any complaints
Cheers Ren.

Re: Trespaser problems!
Gather evidence and give it to the police, they will act on it especially if you can get their rego numbers.
I have two of these and they work just great night or day.
http://www.swannstore.com.au/cart.php?target=product&product_id=776&category_id=44
Just attach them to a tree and they will record a series of photos or a short video clip when motion sensor is activated. Leave it there for a reasonably long period the batteries will last and it records to an SD card so you can download to you computer later.

Re: Trespaser problems!
Cheers guys some good ideas there, got a laugh out of the first couple of suggestions.
Electric fence is a good idea but the Roos make a mess of our fences.
The signs say private property trespassers prosecuted, might need a few more up and a bit more aggressive.
Might also have a chat to the neighbors and get them to keep an eye out.

electric fences, too expensive. also check the law in regard to people getting hurt/injured on your property.
that rules out pits with bamboo poles, and bear traps too. i suggest that these people are well organised, with look outs and probably infa red binoculars and radio contact, oh and CAMO gear and - special -boots as well i still think it will get worse sadly. mbe set up '' listening posts '' in affected areas using current technology. more expense.
perhaps a few regular night patrols, spotlighting for errr vermin, may get the message out there.

Re: Trespaser problems!
I think the best advice so far is to create your own EMI that you can turn of at any time. A electronics expert may be able to help you.

Re: Trespaser problems!
Bury a few Pinpointer Pro's around the place
Something like a large resonant coil oscillating at about 2khz might do the trick and not consume much power either.... Oh god I feel another sidetrack project coming on!
The electric fence might be a good deterrent for the roo's too!
Cheers Mick

Re: Trespaser problems!
The EEET will of course have to have a power limiter so it will be confined to Bluepoints' property boundaries.

Re: Trespaser problems!
You would need to have something like a large Tesla Coil to cover an entire property

Hi Neale from Biloela Queensland
Hi Bluepoint
I am a landowner and I have Detectorist come to my property.
They always ring me when they want to come on to my property.
I put up a big board with my contact details on it.
I have found that most people like to do the right thing.
If they don’t know who to contact it shuts down that way to communicate with you.
I always ask for a photo of the gold they find as the way the gold looks can give you some great ideas.
Like if it is smooth or rough, size and if it has Ironstone or much quartz in the gold.
Your time on the property is not restricted.
Every one looks at an area with different eyes.
As you are on this forum you are opened to meet new people and listen to new ideas.
If you think like, they are clearing all the rubbish and bullets from the top layer of the ground.
You can rake your property later and find the deep larger gold nuggets.
Regards Neale

Re: Trespaser problems!
I agree with shelby23. Instead of trying to keep them out (which has not worked), maybe try to control them. By talking to them you may be able to control the situation by suggesting that they are welcome to detect provided they adhere to your conditions. You could have a sign stating that anybody prospecting on your land without your permission will be prosecuted, but show that permission is available if approached in the right way.

Trouble with rule 303 is that Mr Plod will come with his friends that are dressed in black and carry M16s and take your .303 and yourself and do their damndest to destroy both! Suggest the first idea either confront and tell them to POQ and or take their regos and report them. Suggest that as you are in the country there is a good possibility that you can get on good speaking terms with the local constabulary first and inform them of the problem at hand. Remember to put up good signage, EVERY 100 metres of fenceline.
