The Prehistoric Bird Nugget
Went out this afternoon to have a play and dug up this nice nugget. It looks like one of those Prehistoric Birds standing on it's legs. Came in at 25.7 gms but it has a bit of iron stone and little bit of quartz so cleaned up I think it will go at 25.gms. But I'm not complaining

Re: The Prehistoric Bird Nugget
Ironstone & quarz on the same nugget tells me that you're onto a great spot with excellent potential for larger nuggets. Might pay to go through the range of coils that you have in this area to cover both small & large potentials.... excellent find there Wombat.

Re: The Prehistoric Bird Nugget
It was down about 16" to 18" and I was using the 11" Commander Mono that came with the 5000. when I first picked up the signal, but after digging the hole out a bit I was having trouble in working out were it was in the hole so I changed over to the 8" mono Commander. I had to go through a lot of top soil then clay and it was sitting on top gravel wash just below the clay.

Re: The Prehistoric Bird Nugget
Shiraz when you see it in your hand that's what it looks like, but I got to agree in the second photo it looks more like ET scratching his bum. So I may call it " The ET nugget with itchy ass"

RE:THE PREHISTORIC BIRD NUGGET
Well done wombat. Great find. Thanks for the story about losing the signal, I had that happen but didn't have another coil, so I gave up. Maybe I should go back and try again!

Re: The Prehistoric Bird Nugget
Peter just call me "Happy Feet" I rang my Misses to tell her and she could tell in my voice how excited I was, as at the stage I thought it was going over the ounce. She came down straight away as she thought that I was going to have a heart attack.
Thanks fellows for your kind congratulations and shearing this moment with me, as this is the biggest nugget that I have found so far
