My new Prospecting Tool
.
This should make getting to the sites easier later this year when I head off to do some Prospecting
I was going to upgrade our 2 4500's but decided I would go to more remote ground that has been less worked instead.
Came from the US with just a couple of hundred hours.... Diesel , Hydro drive.... its a corker

Re: My new Prospecting Tool
Thats what I'm hoping Dave........ its for transport rather than carrying all my gold out hahaha I would only need a skateboard for that hehe.
I,ve got a couple of spots in mind that are a few miles in from the closest point I can get my truck in......
Later in the year we are taking a long trip taking my 8 ton truck and 20' van , and wasn't keen to take a 4wd as well.....they are fairly remote spots so we need the truck to cart supplies. I can get a heap of those caged 1000lt water bottles, supplies, the RTV and other stuff on the truck, tow the van, and when we get there use the RTV to trip around to the Gold hopefully......well thats the plan anyway, and should if nothing else be a great adventure

Re: My new Prospecting Tool
Hope I can find it again in the scrub
I actually made a gadget to hook to the UHF in my car.....
You set it on a quiet channel which is easy in the hard to get to places, turn the squelch right up or use selcall / ctss etc and when you forget where the car is just dial the hand held you take with you to that channel press transmit and un-mute the vehicle radio, and it blows the vehicle horn so you can get your bearings again
Never really had to use it to save my life, but it works.

Re: My new Prospecting Tool
Hard
That looks better then your Nissan and mybe worth more. Do you mind if you tel us all the cost of it and cost to get it here. just a ball park $ would be fine.
You and the kids will have a ball on it over the west on the salt lakes , get some chains

Put it this way, I know where there is another one for around 14k with 200 odd hours on it.......... I paid more because this one has the low hours and is optioned up with Hydraulics etc, but at 22k + new thats pretty good money I recon.
This one came direct from Texas via a bloke in Sydney that brings all sorts of small machines in..... not sure of the shipping costs.
Its not totally for prospecting though..... will get used around the farm here..... but I have to admit , prospecting was a deciding factor in my final choice

Nice machine but I think a little suzuki would do the same job and be cheaper

A Zook would be ok, but they are harder to move around , harder to get in and out of use more fuel.......etc etc
I like this because its Diesel , has Hydraulics , is just great to get into hard spots with 4wd and Diff locks standard , and best of all is Hydrostatic Drive, so I can fit a small blade etc
cheers

Yep..... it has, and you can buy all sorts of attachments including a Blade, which I might end up building rather than importing to clear away that pesky ground cover

Hi Harb
That sounds a fantastic idea and I am amazed that no one has followed up on or made further comment on this. May I ask just how complicated or tricky is that to do for a bloke with some skills and loves a challange.? I reckon that is one hell of a good idea!
Any how to details that you care to share would be much appreciated
