5000 and coal
a bloke in my home town who's a fulltime prospector, he has said that the 5000 is picking up the fire ash (coal) more than the 4s and the 45s. is this because they have trimmed down the timings like the fine gold and have them running a bit smoother so you hear these signals abit easyer? has anyone picked this up with there 5000l?

I've tried it in enhance and it does in that setting as well.
Look forward to catching up in the new year!

Re: 5000 and coal
Charcoal has been one of my biggest problems detecting, so this is very interesting indeed. I would have thought any GPX would have no problem with this. What about smooth mode on the 5000?

Re: 5000 and coal
Yep same here, but you can balance out charcoal and if it won't balance out keep digging because there is a metal target under the charcoal. Both the mrs and I have dug up gold from below charcoal.
Now, for which was giving the best signal to start with, hard to say, but when you give a few scrapes and see charcoal you first think no point digging, but then when it won't balance out so keep digging, and on a few occasions out came a gold nugget, biggest of which was a 13 grammer at a good 12" deep.
cheers dave
