Where do you start? ie Heathcote
Ok we have looked at indicators and heard about how guys have found their gold.
I am going up to Heathcote next week, then I realized I didnt have a map of the place. Well now I have my map, but I know the area has been flogged pretty well. We are going up to the One Eye area which is undulating, has three creek beds thorough it and I have been up there before.
Yes I have an open mind, rechecked the small gold mono and settings for the 4500 . We have all been in this position. Where would you start?

Re: Where do you start? ie Heathcote
Jeff, I know nothing about Heathcote or the 4500, as I have a 3000. But I know you were dissapointed about your 4500 with the round 11" mono because a round 8" mono on a 3000 beat it on small gold. Jeff the only thing I can say is I recommend that you should get a newer model(s) GoldStalker or Advantage>round GS 6", A 5x10", A 7x12", GS or A 9x14", round A 12", GS 12x18", A 12x24", round A 14", or round GS or A 16" mono. Take your pick. The 9x14's seems like the best compromise between small and large gold sizes, but some like the new round A 12" or ?

Re: Where do you start? ie Heathcote
Thanks Beer Beeper.
What I had forgotten was the settings for small gold which other members have now brought to my notice. I copied it off and laminated it and will put into my bag so it will be there all the time.
I thing I have found is that the 4500 has a variety of settings that have to changed for the various types of soil and detecting you are doing, whilst the 3000 are much easier to use- almost set and forget. The 11" mono should be okay and I have an 8" mono elliptical now so there should be no excuses.
There havent been any answers to where do I start but one thing I find with this forum is the amount of information available, all you have to do is go looking for it. In this case I went to the Detecting answers and read through Stayyers info on Indicators, great stuff. You get to a stage where you get too comfortable so it is good to refresh yourself and view the ground through someone elses eyes for a change.
Heathcote is only 120 kms north of Melb and we are going on Friday for a long weekend. If you can get out yourself good luck.

Gday Jeff. I have been to the "Öne Eye" before and found a few Nuggets, I wish I can go on the weekend and show you a few spots and what to look for its a good area, there is a patch there that is called the "Purple Stump" which I beleive many ounces has been found there, not marked on any map but know by only a few. I found a few grams there. It is a small area and Gold can still found there if your lucky? It was called the Purple stump because a tree stump that was painted "purple" but is no longer there. Good luck jeff Regards Johnny
Map
Jeff
The Purple line's are shallow ground so have a look around them.
Also Jeff just sending you a PM now with other maps which I don't think would be any good if I post them up here as they may get a work out before you get there.

Small Gold you say
Jeff
If it's small gold you want then you will not get any smaller then these spots.
These are the highest reading I found of (Shallow Auger Soil Samples) Hand Auger 100mm x 50mm .
Good Luck and let us all know how you go.

Re: Where do you start? ie Heathcote
Thanks David
Got your other PM as well. Just goes to show what some research will do. Now the get the other half organised so we can get up there before lunch on Friday - I wish.
Deadly Dawn will be there as well and I know that the 4500, the settings and the 11" mono are just as good (of course they are but I wont hold my breath).
Will let you know how we go.

I Know you need as much help as you can get since you have a 4500 and she has the (ML-3000 switch it on Machine and walk ) that give her more time walking with it then standing in one spot playing with setting.
Don't came back and tell us all that you were beaten by a women.
Good luck to you all and hope the sun shine on you.
