Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
My apologies nero_design
I thought I better back what I wrote about you being a full time prospector. I swear I heard you were a full time prospector from your own words but when I went to find the interview you actually say your official title is a "gold & treasure recovery expert". I hope you can see how I assumed the title of 'full time prospector" was in my track of thinking when writing the prior post.

Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The line of discussion is pretty clear; these items are choices.
No one is advocating "this is the way it has to be"...
Everyone is different.
Hard to understand how that point is missed or how it warrants a thinly-veiled agro response.

Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I agree.
The forum in question has become an insular closed-loop echo chamber
where a group of members seem to revel in pointlessly trashing anything and everything.
It would be a shame if this kind of small-minded nastiness were to bleed over into this forum.

Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
That bow clamp makes a fair cable thing also, just mount it between the handle and the box upside down and pinch the cable a bit with the tip. Not a clean line but will work and it's an item you already own.
I am starting to really like the camera, It was a replacement that Flak recommended. My old Cannon lasted about 5 years before succumbing to the elements. And I had to have now if just for my flea bay sales.
Just starting to shoot youtube videos, amazing HD quality now I just need to learn to talk.https://www.youtube.com/user/detectoraid?feature=mhee

Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hi Honeyant ... it's Kate here. 58yrs old and a fit granny!
I carry all kinds of things because I go out alone! I camp alone .. tenting it. I carry all kinds of stuff, depending upon my location, including a machete (sometimes), a good solid knife (always), two way radio (if I do have a companion), GPS (high quality mobile phone with constant GPS) & GPS unit in my old truck, small first aid kit, old fashioned compass ... all kinds of gear to suit my current location.
I dress in my army gear, including lots of pockets!, and I have a WW2 pack belt which has any number of pocket bags attached. REALLY easy to carry all kinds and number of things WITHOUT any inconvience! I also use WW1 leather gaiters for the dreaded 'attack of the wiggly sticks'.
OK ... I look like a 'dag' ... but who cares? It's usually only me out there
I guess each to their own, but I like to be an old 'boy scout' ... be prepared
PS: I have THAT dreaded disgusting habit ... so I always carry my lighter! (and tobacco ... cigarettes are too dangerous in dry scrub!)

Re: zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'm into plenty of gadgets too. I would be embarrassed to list the items I take with me on my belt and in my backpack.
When I am not out detecting, I am usually mdifying something insignificant like a trowel to make the perfect scoop. Then I make a holder for it and then I usually trash it. But when I can't go detecting, it is an enjoyable passtime for me.
Jig.
